"Ceiling repair from roof leak. Flat finish on drywall ceiling. Repaired damage and painted repair in less than 2 hours start to finish. Matched perfectly, cannot tell it was ever damaged. Fair pricing, arrived on time, great communication, and very nice people. Even gave a 10% discount from quote because it went so well. Didn't have to do that. Couldn't have been a better experience. Highly recommend."

"Fil and his team are outstanding. They are the consummate professionals. We had the old tile removed, wall board replaced, and new backsplash installed. The company removing and replacing the counter top had multiple problems that caused multiple scheduling changes over a 2 week period. Fil was great about working with us to minimize downtime. The job they did was perfect. They show up when they promise, finish when they promise, and charge a fair price. They are true gentleman and look after your home as if it was their own. I will always use Rocca for any future projects."

"It went incredibly well. Stephen came out to look at the townhome the day after we spoke on the phone. He provided a quote that day and started the very next day. Three days later the entire townhome was painted. They removed all the outlet covers and painted behind the appliances (e.g., refrigerator). Fantastic job and I would definitely recommend them."

"Jean-Claude did a FANTASTIC job!!!  We had never done any remodeling or renovations before so we were very wary of the process.  Jean-Claude gave us confidence from the very first meeting.  He gave us helpful suggestions and walked us through the whole process from start to finish.  The room is AMAZING and we could not possibly be any happier.  He stuck to the budget, got the work done timely, and always was there to help answer questions.  He really managed the whole process for us and always had an eye to detail to make the job turn out perfect.  Even when there needed to be modifications to the original plan, he was right there with suggestions and saw each item through--whether in the original bid or not.  I HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING IMAGE RENOVATIONS!!!!"

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Priming a popcorn ceiling before painting is a good idea, especially if the ceiling is stained, discolored, or has never been painted. Interior paint primer helps seal the surface, preventing stains from bleeding through and allowing the paint to adhere better. Use a stain-blocking, water-based primer for best results.

Popcorn ceilings have fallen out of popularity for several reasons, though opinions on them can vary. The primary drawbacks include an outdated appearance, difficulty with cleaning and maintenance, and potential health risks, as ceilings installed before the 1990s may contain asbestos. As design trends have shifted toward sleeker, more modern finishes, many homeowners now prefer smooth ceilings for their clean look and easier upkeep. However, popcorn ceilings do offer some benefits, such as excellent acoustic properties for noise reduction and the ability to hide imperfections. Some also appreciate their retro charm or find them to be a cost-effective solution. Ultimately, whether they are "bad" depends on personal preference, safety concerns, and aesthetic goals.

Textured ceilings add visual interest and personality to a room, breaking away from the flat, uniform look of smooth ceilings. They are also practical, as the texture helps to hide imperfections, making them ideal for older homes or spaces prone to wear and tear. Textured ceilings come in a variety of patterns, giving homeowners the flexibility to choose a style that complements their design preferences, whether they want something subtle or more intricate. Additionally, certain textures can help with sound absorption, making rooms quieter and more comfortable.

Although texturing walls may not seem like a lengthy project, you’ll need to set aside between one and five days to complete it properly. The exact amount will depend on the scope of your project—one room will take less than a whole-house project. That will give you enough time for tasks that are time-consuming in and of themselves, like taping wall edges, priming the walls and letting them dry fully, and actually applying the texture and top or base paint coats.

If your popcorn ceiling is asbestos-free and you are ready for a new look, painting is an option. As long as there is no flaking or other wear, a new coat of paint might be just the thing to refresh the old ceiling. The best way to paint a popcorn ceiling is to use either a paint sprayer or a thick roller to cover the popcorn texture fully. (Do not forget to dust it off beforehand!)

“Note that if you eventually want to remove the popcorn ceiling, a painted ceiling is a labor-intensive job to remove and will cost more,” says Bob Tschudi. “Once painted, the process of removing the popcorn ceiling requires physical scraping as opposed to a spray-and-scrape approach. It’s very labor-intensive, and thus more costly.”
