"D was a one-man show and he did beautiful work. I told him I had a budget and he really gave me the best, over and above, what he even promised. He got me high quality wood cabinets, gave me a gorgeous marble countertop that I had not originally picked but he had it and because my kitchen is small and he could not t do anything else with it, just charged me for the cutting of it. I am so grateful to him for bringing my 1980s kitchen in my 1950s home into the 21st century! He even kindly installed a light I bought and fixed my crawlspace door just because he is a nice guy. I highly recommend his work. He shows up when he says he is and stays as long as he needs to. I plan to use him again for some other projects."

"The service and speed with which Stone Designs was able to do my quartz countertop project was amazing. Took less than a week from reaching out and asking for an estimate to final completion. Very fairly priced amongst the other local and bigger box completion. Excellent!"

"Amazing. We thought that this might be part of a larger electrical problem. They were able to identify and fix the issue fast and effectively. This was a critical issue as it was causing a loss of electricity in half of our basement."

"Super professional. High precision cutting was needed to fit my mid-century, uneven walls, and got it right the first time. Cuts were made outside which kept my home clean and they installed my island stone surface, too. They matched my windowsill shelf, as well. Beautiful job."

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

It is not recommended to put a hot pan directly on a marble countertop. While marble is heat-resistant, it is not completely heat-proof, and extreme or prolonged exposure to high heat can cause discoloration, cracking, or chipping. Pans may also scratch or nick the surface. To protect your countertop and maintain its integrity, always use trivets or hot pads. Note that faux marble finishes do not resist heat and require protection from hot items at all times.

Beyond landscaping, limestone has multiple uses. For example, there are multiple pros and cons to limestone countertops, such as a lower cost compared to other types of stone and heat resistance. Limestone is also a key ingredient in limewash, a type of paint with a chalky texture. Other uses for limestone include siding, retaining walls, and mixed into cement.

No, soapstone does not crack easily. The softness of the material protects it from cracking but makes it prone to other types of damage such as scratches. Scratches may need to be buffed out occasionally using fine-grit sandpaper. You can also conceal minor scratches in your soapstone countertops by rubbing the surface with mineral oil.

Extensive chips and cracks may require a full replacement of the countertop. The cost to install a new countertop is around $3,100 on average. But, if the damaged area is relatively small, you may want to consider repairing it yourself or calling in a qualified professional. Depending on the material, some epoxy and sandpaper may do the trick. Or you can consider painting laminate countertops or refinishing butcher block countertops.

Quartz countertops are relatively expensive, but they’re a very popular option because of their durability and attractive design. Some manufacturers also offer lifetime guarantees for their products. Even though they’re expensive, they could wind up being a one-time purchase.
