A typical service call generally takes less than one hour, but depends on the number of pieces and the severity of the damage. In restorations i make piece usable like the original and free of major imperfections and typically do the following: fill in main gouges, pressure, and scratches and color match these and small water marks to existing finish; and apply a protective lacquer coat to blend and add luster with whole piece. In refinishing i make the piece look close to the way it did when manufactured and typically do the following: strip and sand old finish down to the raw wood, fill and otherwise eliminate all scratches, gouges, pressure marks, etc, re-stain/tone apply several finishing coats to fill in the wood grain, achieve desired, protection, sheens, and tones.
