If you purchase an undersized unit, it won’t properly cool your house, and it has to work harder to reach the optimal temperature. This will eventually wear your unit out. An oversized unit can spell trouble because it will turn off and on more frequently, which also wears out your AC unit. An oversized unit also causes humidity in the home.

It’s normal to hear a low humming sound as air moves through your vents. Most of the time, you probably won’t even notice it. However, if that sound becomes disruptive or if you hear more concerning noises (such as rattling, clicking, banging, hissing, or grinding), there might be a problem with your HVAC system.

If you have central air conditioning, it’s fine to run your AC all day if that’s what you want—as long as the AC unit is in good condition. But if your AC runs constantly when you don’t want it to, there may be a problem with your system (like the ones we’ve mentioned above).
