"My house had visible mold in one part of the house and I needed to have the air quality test done in another part of the house to see if it was okay to be there. The representative that came was punctual, knowledgeable and very professional. He answered all my questions. The only thing that I was a little surprised about was that I thought that the price included 3 samples but it was only for 2 and one of them had to be from outside. It was $75 for any additional samples. The customer service was great. I called for my results but the man I needed to talk to was in the field. The woman in the office contacted him then called me back with the information I needed. I also found out that they have a different method of remediation that is not as expensive as the demolition of your property. I was extremely pleased with the service and highly recommend them!"

Small jobs welcome

"I own a rental unit in Destin. I was notified that I had an ice line leak which resulted in water damage and mold. I was not knowledgeable in what steps to take first in order to resolve my issues. After looking up National Certified Mold Remediators, I found Advantaclean. I called them and they were quick to respond and very, very knowledgeable. Jim Tanner, CEO of Advantaclean of the Emerald Coast, was very professional. He assessed the situation, completed air tests, remediated the mold and was able to give me a clearance letter in order for contractors to come fix the structural damage. I highly recommend Advantaclean to anyone and everyone."

"The man that came out was so down to earth. Very knowledgeable. After cleaning my house for mold, I still had mold growing. I couldn't see the mold but the air test came back positive. He made suggestions on how to fix my problem. When I have fixed the problems, I am calling him back to retest. Very wonderful man."

"AAA construction is the contractor we hired to remodel our house. Kitchen, bathrooms, floors, essentially the entire interior of the home. From day one, until we moved in and even until recently when a small adjustment needed to be made, their professionalism, attention to detail and talents as contractors were second to none. We met with many contractors before we sat down with John to discuss our plans and before Dustin came to our house to start the remodel. I can honestly say that we were lucky in hiring them. These days it is difficult to find a skilled much less honest contractor to perform even simple jobs. When you add the knowledge and experience they have I believe it would be very difficult to match. Their work ethic is what some of us would refer to as old school. Again this is something you can appreciate after you meet with enough other companies and realize how many impostors there are in Dade County. With AAA you have a contractor with a college degree in this field. Do yourself a favor and in the very least contact them and discuss your plans. Feel free to contact me via email for a reference. Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Black mold on wood is a very serious issue. Besides compromising the structural integrity of the wood, it poses significant health risks. Stachybotrys chartarum, commonly known as toxic black mold, produces mycotoxins that can lead to respiratory issues, allergies, skin irritations, and other health problems. If left untreated, it can spread rapidly and compromise the structural stability of the affected wooden structures. Immediate remediation and preventive measures are essential to mitigate the risks associated with black mold on wood.

No, not all black mold is toxic. Although people often refer to stachybotrys chartarum as toxic black mold, there is little evidence that any one type of black mold has more toxicity than another. People who have an allergy to black mold would be more likely to have a dangerous reaction after inhaling it. Long-term exposure to black mold spores can lead to severe infection and disease. Some people only have minor health problems after black mold exposure. Ultimately, toxicity is rare with any kind of mold, but it is possible, so always take the appropriate precautions.

Common causes include water leaks, settling, and impact. Address underlying issues to prevent recurring damage.

Underfloor insulation alone will not cause moisture and mold, but improper installation can. Although the purpose is to seal any drafts, your subfloor still needs ventilation. If you seal the area too tightly and prevent all airflow, this can cause moisture to get trapped. This moisture eventually leads to mold and—if your floors are wood—rotting.

It’s unlikely your leaves are a hazard, especially if you get to them while they’re dry. However, a couple of rare risks exist. University studies suggest that decaying leaves can produce organochlorines, toxic pollutants similar to man-made PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), so avoid keeping them in an enclosed area.

Also, leaves and compost may cause the growth of fungi that can cause diseases like histoplasmosis and aspergillosis, as well as mold spores that are unhealthy for human lungs. Again, severe issues are rare, but those with compromised immune systems or allergies to mold should wear face masks when directly handling leaves.
