"TLDR: Keep to small jobs. I was looking to remodel bathroom for labor only, & HC came in as the lowest bidder. I had already bought fixtures & would buy tile. HC gave me a list of what else to buy. The first worker was messily doing questionable quality work & taking longer than estimated to do it. It took another worker refusing to put their name on it for HC to take my concerns about quality seriously. Got a new person in who demoed everything to start over. I truly appreciate the effort of this redo (hence 2-star), & it was going much better, if with some cosmetic concerns later on. Then got hit with a change order- for an understandable found issue, but also for tile style (I was told wouldn't change cost). I also had to buy more than was HC's initial list, & had descoped to help offset cost. I'm left with an over-budget bathroom that is functional with rushed cosmetic issues, 3 weeks late with my house a mess, & a list of To-Dos to finish/fix the scope they didn't get to."
