"The owner Frank really knew his b usiness.  He explained to me everything that his company would do.  The roofers arrived on time and were very nice and neat.  Frank also explained to me how to get a refund from Florida Power for the ridge vent and the savings I would get for having more insulation .  I have a flat roof on the back of my house that I spend most of the time in.  He suggested that I add another layer of insulation to it.  What a world of difference that suggestion has made.  He also told me how I could lower my insurance bill by having the rafters tied down.  He took pictures of this process with the permit to submit to my insurance company.  The pictures also were printed with the description of what they had done.  He also gave me a second set in case the first got lost.  They also installed a solar tube for a bathroom that had no windows.  What a wonderful difference that has made.  My bathroom is so light now I think I will put some orchids in there.  The first night after they installed the solar tube was a full moon.  My bathroom had a moon light on.  I liked how he explained things to me and gave me the price which did not change.  I did have a slight leak on my back porch where the roof met the porch.  I called on Monday morning and by noon they were there to fix it.  I feel comfortable with the job that they have done and would highly recommend them to anyone.Very thorough, very good and very nice.

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

A post-drywall inspection could uncover many problems that weren’t present during the pre-drywall inspection, including insufficient insulation, missing weather stripping, improperly installed plumbing and lighting fixtures, flooring damage, drywall damage, plumbing leaks, aesthetic issues, and more. Structural problems, which are often expensive to fix and are common reasons to walk away after a home inspection, are easier to see before the drywall goes up, but a post-drywall inspection may highlight minor issues with house settling and foundation problems.

Water-damaged drywall should almost always be replaced. Not only does it look bad, it’s a breeding ground for toxic mold. Even if you think the area is dry and there’s no active leak, the only way to be sure is to cut out the damaged area and see for yourself.

Applying spackle is a simple DIY project that most people can complete in just a few hours. Even homeowners who have little DIY experience can complete this project in an afternoon. However, if you're uncomfortable with the project or don't have the time, you can always hire a pro to help.

Only use spackle on plaster walls when the imperfection is small. It’s best used for nail holes or small dings in the plaster. Spackle dries quickly, allowing you to continue the repair process shortly after using it. Plaster can be tricky to repair, though, so if you run into issues, call a pro so that you don’t risk further damage.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.
