"My parents LOVE the work done by this business and they were a pleasure to work with. My parents needed drywall repaired after a bathroom installation. Jesus also replaced tile and painted. They completed the work in less than a week and were extremely professional and courteous. We will definitely be using their services again. I would give them 10 stars if I could."

My name is Blake Demunck, Im proud father of 3, and I started BOA Painting & Home Improvement a little over a year and a half ago (at the time of writing this). Many of my family members own construction businesses specializing in different fields, so, I have worked in home improvement since I can remember! I take pride in my work and don't consider a job finished until I can look at it and say it’s perfect (and the customer does as well). Integrity, quality, and reliability are all virtues of mine that I display in my personal life that I bring to my business life as well. If you like what you read, I would love if you pick me and my business to finish your home improvement projects!

"Dee and his crew are all amazing workers. They showed up promptly at exactly the time they said they would each and every time. Gave a free quote and stuck to the quote. Dee is a very talented trim man. Everyone from pressure washer to prep, spray paint and final trim worked in a quality and professional manner. Everyone at American Custom Paint over performed our expectations. And even more importantly, they treated a many in his 90s with the upmost respect...a quality hard to come by these days. Thank you Dee and crew! You will hear from us again!! A++"

"Not only does the roof look gorgeous it's efficient and quiet! It reduced our electric bill along with being cooler, it much quieter. We went with the insulated metal roofing system, which we would recommend, it takes a bit longer and it's more costly but worth the time and money. Frank and his team are friendly, straight forward, and easy to work with. They were efficient and clean, our neighbors even commented how much they appreciated how well they cleaned up each day to keep our road and driveway clear. We would highly recommend them for any roofing job!"

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

A 50-pound mirror can be hung on drywall, but only if it has the support of strong hardware. Ideally, you can find the studs behind the drywall and attach the mirror to them; this will give your mirror better stability. Otherwise, confirm that you are using anchors appropriate to the weight of the mirrors. Another technique is to use French cleats—two pieces of wood that fit together, with one piece attached to the wall and the other to the mirror. This allows the weight to be distributed over a wider area.

In some minor cases, you can DIY drywall repair with minimal time and money spent. This method is best when you have a hole made by a singular problem, such as accidental furniture moving, and not a continuous problem, like a rodent infestation.

Knowing what product to use is crucial. For example, small holes only need spackle, whereas large holes might need a new piece of drywall. You can flex your DIY abilities on this project, but if you’d like a second opinion or have a more significant problem, it’s best to call in a drywall repair pro.

There are several things you should not do when installing drywall. Common mistakes include: adding too many screws, over-sanding, not adding backing support, and installing drywall unevenly. You also should avoid screwing into the same place twice, installing Sheetrock with tapered edges on the outside, and making too many joints.

Only use spackle on plaster walls when the imperfection is small. It’s best used for nail holes or small dings in the plaster. Spackle dries quickly, allowing you to continue the repair process shortly after using it. Plaster can be tricky to repair, though, so if you run into issues, call a pro so that you don’t risk further damage.

When used correctly, drywall patch kits can work well. However, there are limitations. Specifically, these kits can only cover holes up to 5 inches in diameter. For anything larger than that, you’ll need to cut out the affected section of drywall and replace it with a new piece. That’s a far more complicated process that involves buying the right type of drywall, finding the wall studs, cutting into your wall, and screwing the replacement drywall in place.
