Small jobs welcome

"Lukeâ s Custom Woodworks just completed a beautiful remodel of my kitchen. The workmanship and customer service I have received were outstanding, and the cost was substantially lower than the other businesses I contacted. The staff of craftsmen were superb! Everyone worked diligently to make sure everything was done right. In addition, they always made sure the area was cleaned before they left. I highly recommend Lukeâ s Custom Woodworks to anyone interested in having a woodworking project. I couldnâ t ask for a better experience!"

"John is an excellent craftsman. He is a joy to work with and is very customer focused. He installed crown molding and wood cornices for our foyer, great room and kitchen. He did a fabulous job and is super easy to work with. I would highly recommend John and will certainly use him again in the future."

"Simeon did an unbelievable job installing our new kitchen cabinets. We have an older home so he had to work with uneven floors, walls, and a couple more obstacles . Despite all the issues, the finished product looks absolutely perfect. His attention to detail is unmatched and it really shows in the finished product. I cannot recommend him enough!"

"We recently bought a condo in Bonita Spring. We liked the place very much but one of the room, that I planned to have as my office, had walls that were occupied by two rows of cabinets leaving no place to put anything in it. We didn't need those nice cabinets so we started searching for someone who can remove them and take to the waste facility. A few people who came asked for the price that sounded ridiculous and the timing was not good for us. Finally, this nice man, Clayton from Nunes Carpentry came. He offered a very fair price and was ready to start just a few days later. And what job he's done! Clayton is very polite, extremely hard working, and did an AMAZING job: worked very carefully not to ruin walls and floor, no smoking or lunch breaks, no complains about the job being much harder than it looked. No pretense. Not showing how 'tired' he was: just working and doing a great job for a very fair price. I highly recommend Clayton and guarantee you won't regret this decision."

"Couldn’t be more pleased with the work Mr. Hernandez did. He made sure the new handrails were absolutely secure so my partially disabled husband would be safe. Everything was cleaned up thoroughly. I definitely would hire this company again."

"Blue Lines was extremely professional. They helped guide me throughout my project from design thru selection to install. The cabinetry was hand crafted as well as the crown molding and base boards throughout the house. They even helped make my dream of a coffee cabinet become a reality! Roman also helped me in selection of appliances! I would definitely hire them again. The finished product is beautiful!!"

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

While you may have heard people use millwork and carpentry interchangeably, they aren’t the same. Millwork is a type of carpentry, which means that carpentry isn’t always millwork. You can tell millwork apart from other types of carpentry because it’s manufactured at a mill. Notably, casework is also confused with millwork. Casework is different because it refers to boxes like cabinets and bookshelves.

Yes, many repair services include blade sharpening as part of the maintenance package.

Some states require carpenters to be licensed to perform forms of carpentry, such as framing. The license requires a certain amount of experience and to pass an examination. In states that don’t require carpenters to be licensed, they must be licensed as a contractor if they work independently rather than solely as a subcontractor under a licensed builder. Use Angi’s contractor licensing tool to find out whether a potential carpenter is licensed in your state.

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.

Homeowners insurance may cover damaged floor joists, depending on your policy. Insurance typically covers issues from storms, fires, or water damage from burst pipes. However, don't expect your insurance company to cover damage from wear and tear, poor maintenance, or termites.
