Small jobs welcome

"Lukeâ s Custom Woodworks just completed a beautiful remodel of my kitchen. The workmanship and customer service I have received were outstanding, and the cost was substantially lower than the other businesses I contacted. The staff of craftsmen were superb! Everyone worked diligently to make sure everything was done right. In addition, they always made sure the area was cleaned before they left. I highly recommend Lukeâ s Custom Woodworks to anyone interested in having a woodworking project. I couldnâ t ask for a better experience!"

"5-Star Review for Bears Legacy Homes LLC I recently hired Bears Legacy Homes LLC for a full home remodel, including drywall repair and interior painting, and I couldn?t be more impressed with their work. From start to finish, their team was professional, punctual, and highly skilled. They took the time to understand my vision, offered helpful suggestions, and executed everything flawlessly. The drywall work was seamless ? you can?t even tell where the repairs were made ? and the painting looks absolutely beautiful. Every detail was handled with care, and the job site was kept clean and organized throughout the process. What really stood out was their dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. Bears Legacy Homes LLC takes pride in their craftsmanship, and it shows in the final result. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-notch remodeling, drywall, or painting services. "John was prompt on call back and appointment to give estimate.  He impressed us so much that we didn't  interview the other vendors we had lined up for estimates.
On time for job start-SKILLED CRAFTSMAN-attention to detail was amazing-neat-clean-respectful of our home
He's creative, takes a great deal of pride in his work and was a pleasure to work with.
His paint team, Karol & Alex have the same work ethic and skills-very professional, neat, clean and on time.
Would highly recommend BJ Trim Carpentry Inc.

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.

Joists do distribute their load to beams, but they don’t sit on top of the beams. Instead, home builders nail or screw the joists directly to the beams such that the end of the joist butts up against the edge of the beam. Beams can sit on other beams for support, but you’ll never see a joist sitting on top of a beam or another joist.

Rustic and modern farmhouse styles are currently the most popular. These include rustic and antique furniture, muted colors, clean lines, eclectic decor, and natural materials. Some other popular farmhouse styles include the following:

  • Coastal farmhouse: Creates a lighter, airier feel with soft colors and blue palettes, along with gold

  • Colonial farmhouse: Focuses on real antique furniture and decor

  • French farmhouse: Leans on French country architecture and design by including marble and lighter-colored metals, like zinc

  • Industrial farmhouse: Includes thick, chunky furniture and dark metals

  • Scandinavian farmhouse: Usually includes lighter wood colors and more refined furniture

It is not recommended to cut or drill into LVL (laminated veneer lumber) beams. As major structural components of a home, their composite structure can be compromised by alterations, which can weaken them and lead to cracking over time. If you must make modifications to an LVL beam, it is crucial to consult a structural engineer or general contractor first. A professional can advise on whether it's safe and provide specifics on the appropriate bit size, depth, and directionality for any necessary drilling.

When building a house, it is customary to use 16d nails that measure 3 1/2 inches in length to construct the frame. These nails are crucial in providing the necessary support and stability for structural elements like joists and studs, which ensures a sturdy framework.
