Our objective is to provide the finest quality of fencing available at a reasonable cost to consumers (both commercial and residential) and at the same time adhere to the highest possible installation standards. We are old school! I installed my first fence as an employee of a small fence company in Safety Harbor Fl. in 1975. After working for this company for several years, I bought my first truck in 1979 and sub-contracted wood fence installation from Master Fence in Tampa. It was at Master Fence where I was taught how to install chain link fence and was shown a system of installation that was easy to understand, could be applied to any type of fence, and ensured a quality job that looked good and would stand the test of time. (We still use this system 30 years later.) From the very beginning, I have always stressed quality installation with quality materials. In the mid 80’s, we started doing some work for a few auto dealerships, namely Dimmit Cadillac and Clearwater Nissan. It was through these people I was introduced to Canco General Contractors. Canco was to become my best customer for years to come as well as a good learning ground. Through Canco, other contractors in the area were made aware of my company and the quality of our service and work. At one point, we were installing fence for three companies that built automobile dealerships! Throughout the 90’s and into the new millennium, I continued to install all types of fencing, expanding into aluminum, ornamental steel, and PVC. In 2003, I built and moved into my present facility on Marlborough Street in Oldsmar. I am proud to say I still install with the same techniques and quality that I started with some 30-odd years ago.

Jansen Shutters & Windows provides maximum hurricane protection in order to shelter your family, protect your investments and secure your well-being. We will begin with a consultation at your home, allowing us to customize a hurricane protection system to meet the needs of your lifestyle, home and/or business.

"Bad from beginning to end (except there is still no end.) Jansen Shutters and Windows (Jansen) installed custom hurricane shutters on my house in Tampa. Two of the Armor Screen shutters on doors to the outside were to have zippers to allow for egress. This involved extra cost. One was as ordered but the second was not. The original installation occurred in January 2019. I made repeated requests for service to fix the problem, but only after six months, when I threatened to file a BBB complaint, was my request acknowledged. A technician came on July 5, 2019. He discovered that there was a more serious problem than a lack of egress. Neither of the shutters for the two rear doors fit the openings. In other words, though we had paid in full for hurricane protection of all openings, two large doors were completely unprotected. On July 9 the same technician returned to pick up the two faulty shutters. I was told that they would see if they could fix the problem in house or would have to order new shutters for the doors. That is the last communication from Jansen. I have called, left voicemail messages, and sent an email message, but Jansen is completely unresponsive. Timeline: May 9, 2018 Proposal accepted June 1, 2018 Notice of commencement and initial payment January 11, 2019 Installation and payment in full January 12-July 3, 2019 Repeated requests for service to correct the lack of egress July 5, 2019 Jansen technician discovers that neither of the shutters for the rear doors fits the opening July 9, 2019 Jansen technician picks up the non-fitting shutters and takes them away July 10 – present No further communication from Jansen, despite several emails and phone calls"

FAQs for wrought iron service projects in Tampa, FL

As with any project or material, installing wrought iron fencing has advantages and disadvantages. Some pros and cons of this fence material include:

Pros

  • Long lifespan with proper maintenance

  • Very durable

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Functional as well as decorative

Cons

  • Requires regular maintenance and cleaning

  • Expensive compared to other fence materials

  • Limited privacy

Wrought iron fencing costs about $3,100, on average, ranging from $470 to $10,000 or more, depending on the type of fencing, the length, and any custom design work. You should also consider additional cost factors, such as metal thickness, labor costs in your location, permits, old fence removal, tree or bush removal, land grading, gates, and columns. Wrought iron fence materials cost around $1,925 to $3,500 per project, or $25 to $35 per linear foot.

Installing a wrought iron railing costs about $2,600 on average, depending on the size and your location. Costs range from $700 to $4,600 for most projects. Typically, wrought iron railings cost about $50 to $120 per linear foot, not including labor. Additional cost factors include the material and component costs and any custom work. Different wrought iron railing finishes include:

  • Plain black: $50–$70 per linear foot

  • Galvanized wrought iron: $60–$90 per linear foot

  • Ornamental wrought iron: $60–$120 per linear foot

A wrought iron fence is worth it if the material suits your home’s needs and the cost fits within your budget. However, wrought iron is not the best choice if you’re looking for a fence that increases privacy. However, if you want a fence and a security gate that complements your brick or stone home with a classy, timeless, and elegant look, wrought iron fencing is a good option. As far as the longevity of wrought iron fencing compared to other materials, wrought iron wins almost every time.

A high-quality wrought iron fence should last a lifetime or even centuries. However, making your wrought iron last as long as possible will require regular maintenance as the material is susceptible to corrosion and rust. Maintenance involves cleaning the fence with soapy water every six months and applying a new coat of paint yearly. While you’re cleaning your wrought iron fence, scrub away any rust or corrosion to maintain its look and viability.
