Bad from beginning to end (except there is still no end.) Jansen Shutters and Windows (Jansen) installed custom hurricane shutters on my house in Tampa. Two of the Armor Screen shutters on doors to the outside were to have zippers to allow for egress. This involved extra cost. One was as ordered but the second was not. The original installation occurred in January 2019. I made repeated requests for service to fix the problem, but only after six months, when I threatened to file a BBB complaint, was my request acknowledged. A technician came on July 5, 2019. He discovered that there was a more serious problem than a lack of egress. Neither of the shutters for the two rear doors fit the openings. In other words, though we had paid in full for hurricane protection of all openings, two large doors were completely unprotected. On July 9 the same technician returned to pick up the two faulty shutters. I was told that they would see if they could fix the problem in house or would have to order new shutters for the doors. That is the last communication from Jansen. I have called, left voicemail messages, and sent an email message, but Jansen is completely unresponsive. Timeline: May 9, 2018 Proposal accepted June 1, 2018 Notice of commencement and initial payment January 11, 2019 Installation and payment in full January 12-July 3, 2019 Repeated requests for service to correct the lack of egress July 5, 2019 Jansen technician discovers that neither of the shutters for the rear doors fits the opening July 9, 2019 Jansen technician picks up the non-fitting shutters and takes them away July 10 – present No further communication from Jansen, despite several emails and phone calls

Patio doors were to be replaced on Monday, 10/22/18. Jansen called to say the doors they thought were mine belonged to another customer. My doors would be in and installed on Tuesday. No doors Tuesday, maybe Wednesday. Called Jansen on Thursday; where's my doors? We don't know but we're working on it. Friday the doors were found. I was out of town the following week so the doors were to be installed on Monday 11/5/18. No one showed up, no one called. I called Jansen and was told their guy was taking the day off on Monday and I was to be called the previous Friday. I was not! Doors were finally installed on Tuesday 11/6/18. Doors were inspected on Tuesday, 11/13/18; REJECTED. Repair was to be made on Monday 11/19/18; no show. 11/20/18; no show. 11/21/18 repair guy had to pick up his kids; no show. 11/23/18 repair guy had car trouble; no show. 11/23/18 repair was made. The week of 11/26/18 thru 11/30/18 no inspector, no communication from Jansen. 12/3/18 talked to Travis Jansen. Said he'd call me back with some answers. He did not! 12/3/18 thru 12/7/18, no calls from Jansen. Called Jansen on Monday 12/10/18; "we'll find out what's happening and get back to you". !2/12/18 still no communication from Jansen. Called Jansen on 12/12/18 and was told "we'll find out whats happening and get right back to you" Still waiting for Jansen to do something .... anything!!

We had to wait for PGT to make the window package once we ordered it the end of August 2015.  We had an installation date set for the middle of Nov. but there was a structural change made by the engineering firm and a different set of windows had to be ordered. Installation was again set for mid December which we the homeowners had to change due to a fall and recovery.  We did finally start installation in January 2016.  The demolition went smoothly and the installers worked around 2 rain storms but we finally had the project completed. 

We are very pleased with the final product and appearance of the project.  It turned out just as we hoped it would.  We had a good experience with the salesman and the installers were punctual and very professional and went the extra mile to make sure the job was done right.

We would recommend Jansen Shutters and Windows to our neighbors and friends.

Horrible service, both from office people and first service person. Had a simple job, first person botched it so bad that after 3-4 calls, the second person came out and said it was awful; he fixed it. I called back after I rec'd the bill to complain - 3 times, and never got to speak to anyone who could make a decision about reducing it. The worst customer service experience in some time, will never use or recommend.

We signed contract (October 2013) and was promised installation by salesperson to be done in 3 - 4 weeks.  Finally we received a call that our windows would be installed on Jan. 21st.  We called them to see what time they would arrive and found out they were not coming until the next week (Jan. 28th).  The installation took 2 days which was OK with us.  Two of our windows were not as we ordered.  To be fair Jansen did order the correct windows.  PGT came and replaced the windows that were incorrect.  Once that was fixed Jansen called Sarasota County to inspect the windows.  They were inspected on March 12, 2014.  The inspection failed because we did not have tempered glass in one window.  Jansen had to replace the window pane and then have it re-inspected.  The window panes were replaced May 6th.  To be fair we were gone for 2 weeks during that period.  The re-inspection passed.  Now we had to have the screw holes capped.  The screw holes were left uncapped so the inspector could be sure the windows were installed correctly.  One screen also had to be fixed.  The job was finally finished except for the screen on July 24th after many calls to have it done.  The screen was finally delivered to us on July 30th.  We were gone for 6 weeks in May & June. 

Our frustration with Jansen is that the completion of the job took so many telephone calls and promises of fixing the problems.  They would promise someone would be here and no one would show up.  The product was not at fault it was the telephone calls and the time it took to complete the installation to satisfaction.

The sales pitch was good. The delivery was bad.  Inside door they switched to met code but was of an inferior quality and did not match the rest of the house even though we were told when we got the quote we would never notice the difference.  After numerous complaints,and them coming out multiple times, they finally got it right.  They also installed a shutter on my rear custom window that did not work. They tried and tried to fix it on site but finally had to remove it, weld it, and reinstall it to get it to work.  They are suppose to be the experts but it took allot of complaints and many months for them to get it right.  I recently had them repair one wind screen under warranty and now when it is in the fully retracted position it is crooked.   I don't live in Florida full time so I have been trying to deal with all these issues remotely.  Checking on their work and relying on them to get it right the first has been almost impossible.  If you cant be there to watch them... stay away....

The initial experience with them was good. We had bids from several other companies and Jansen was responsive (at that time) and reasonable. We paid our down payment and then the run around began. The 4-6 week install time came and went. We called and were told 2 more weeks and then we called again and were pushed back once again. Finally our panels were ready for install. My husband confirmed the install 3 times because he wanted to be home so he took a vacation day. Well guess what no one showed up...grr! When I called they said oops we had to push it to tomorrow and I guess we forgot to call. This was unacceptable. We let the shutters get installed the next day and then I called the owner Phil. Although he seemed apologetic he told me he would follow up with a remedy for our inconveniences. To no surprise he didn't. The sales guy was unresponsive and the office staff just would hand off my calls to one another. Needless to say it took me calling 7 times over the course of 3 weeks to get someone to acknowledge my frustrating experience. I would never recommend them due to the communication problems. We did find another company to install protection on our lanai and they were less expensive, professional and installed as scheduled so better companies are out there I just wish we had found them prior to committing with Jansen.

Larry, the sales rep, was the second salesperson of our day.  The products to be purchased were almost identical, so there was little discrepancy in price.  However, the first sales person from a different company spent more than an hour with us, familiarizing us with the products and answering our  questions.
Larry was in and out in less than 15 minutes.  When he called later about our decision, we told him we gave the order to the earlier person because  we felt he did a more professional job and that was a reflection of the company.

My experience with this company has been less than acceptable.
They have failed to keep appointments and when actually arriving, they always had some reason to leave early.
They entire job should have been completed in one day. (Their estimate)
They have been here 6 or 7 times and the job is still not complete.
Their installation failed Sarasota County inspection and I have been told they had to get an engineer to look at it.
Their last appointment was for 5/8/13 and at 1:15pm I received a call that they would not be here until 5/9/13.
Usually I would not be concerned about this, but now it is the 7th time I have had to stay home to wait around for them.
Their lack of demonstrating compitance now makes me wonder if the shutters they did install will work, when needed.
