"I received a call back to schedule a estimate from Rockyâ s Tip Top Tree Service within moments of submitting the request through Home advisor website. Rockyâ s showed up exactly when they said both for the estimate and on the day the work was to be done and hit the ground running. The work was done efficiently and exceeded my expectations. Exemplary customer service. I would recommend anyone in need of tree service to give Rockyâ s Tip Top a call."

"I would highly recommend them to others. They were all very professional. I had to trees done. One was hard to get to and no one wanted to mess with it or they wanted a lot to do it. They got in it and cleaned it up better than I thought they would be able to. The other tree was an old oak tree and it had lots of dead limbs on it. They cleaned it out and shaped it. It looks very nice. When they were done they cleaned EVERYTHING up. (Friends across the street had their trees done by someone else and their limbs are still sitting in their yard)"

"Our experience with this company was a very pleasant one. They cut down an Oak Tree that actually had a limb on a power line! They cut it all the way down, did it in one day, I would recommend this company and his crew to anybody that needs tree service, and they cleaned up the area and hauled all the wood off! What a Blessing! A awesome job!"

"Paul was great and did a wonderful job of assessing our situation and giving us a fair price on tree trimming for 3 HUGE trees in our yard that were posing a danger to our home. What he said he would charge was exactly what he charged. Would rate an 11/10 if that were possible. Will use their tree service again!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

While the trees in your backyard are good for the environment and look beautiful, they could present a danger to your home under the wrong circumstances. This task is typically beyond the capabilities of the average homeowner due to its dangerous nature, so it’s best to leave this task to a professional. In some cities, it’s even illegal to remove a tree yourself.

Stump grinding consists of removing the visible part of the stump, but the roots remain intact. Depending on the tree and root system, the roots may still grow after stump grinding. If you are concerned about root growth and damage, you may want to consider having a stump removed completely.

Yes, it can be good to remove dead branches from trees. Dead branches can lead to rot in other areas of the tree. They can also cause damage if they fall on a house, shed, fence, car, pool, or other structure or property. However, it’s important that dead branch removal is done safely. If the branch is high in a tree or requires a lift or ladder to access, consider calling a professional tree removal company, as they will have the experience and equipment to do the job safely.

If you don’t cut down a dead, dying, or diseased tree, it can become a nesting place for pests like mosquitos, bees, beetles, wasps, fly larvae, and more. Some pests will live in the tree, while others will feed off the decaying wood. Unhealthy trees are also more likely to fall over, potentially injuring people and causing damage to your property.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.
