"This was a great experience -- Margarito was very easy to talk with, and had a great understanding of what I wanted done on the first visit to give me an estimate. He was able to handle my landscaping needs a week later, and took care of everything. Most of the yard debris was cleaned up after completing the job; I loaded a wheelbarrow with the leftover stuff, and there were a few water bottles left from the team, but over all I was 100% pleased. I would definitely hire him and his crew again."

"Derek and his team did a fantastic job. They removed three small tired trees and several old bushes and installed ten small palm trees, a dozen or so hibiscus plants and dozens of other tropical plants. They reworked the beds with a variety of rock, sand, stone and sod. We never thought the house and yard could look so fantastic."

"Although I have paid the quote, Brightman Landscaping has not yet started working for me. I hired Nicholas Brightman because he was professional, knowledgeable, friendly and honest. I also appreciate his very reasonable quote. His Angi reviews were also very impressive. I’m looking forward to working with Brightman Landscaping. I believe I made the right choice."

"Colby and his team did a great job on our property. we were getting ready to have a backyard wedding with 150 people and didn't have a lot if time. They got it done in time and went above and beyond to make our yard look amazing for the wedding. He even accommodated our last minute requests. He was very professional and easy to work with. We will definitely be calling on him in the future for our landscaping needs."

"Matthew and his team did a great job! He created new shrub beds in my backyard including pavers and mulch, replanted overcrowded plants, planted a fruit tree, and replaced dead grass. He answered all my questions about various plants on my property and gave great instructions on how to care for all my plants and grass. I had him come back a second time to do some trimming. Great communication, quality work, and fair prices. I will definitely call him back when I need any landscape work. Highly recommend!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

In addition to aloe vera and lilac, other effective humidity-reducing plants include peace lilies, Boston ferns, English ivy, spider plants, and lucky bamboo. These plants thrive in humid environments and can naturally lower moisture levels. Place them in areas prone to dampness for the best results.

The best place to plant a rose bush is where it will be happiest. Growing roses is difficult if the location varies much from what the plants like. Choose a location that gets at least six hours of direct sunlight during the growing season but not much more than that in hot-climate locations. If such a spot doesn't exist in your yard, consider planting your rose in a movable container to take advantage of portability.

Xeriscaped lawns are far more varied than many gardeners initially assume. The often-pictured rocky and cacti-filled landscapes are just one option. Many wildflower-, herb-, and mulch-covered landscapes follow the same principles without straying too far from the lush and colorful landscapes we have come to know. In fact, there are numerous xeriscape ideas for customizing an energy-efficient lawn to your liking.

The best type of rock for landscaping depends on your specific project and needs, as different rocks are suited for different applications. For covering large areas or creating an affordable driveway, consider gravel, but note that it can wash away in flowing water. For water features, river rocks are a good option. Flagstone and cobblestone are ideal for aesthetically pleasing patios and walkways. If you are building a stone wall, fieldstone or small boulders are up to the task. Large boulders and landscape rocks work well as statement pieces, to fill empty space, or to indicate boundaries, but be mindful that they can overwhelm smaller gardens. The best approach is to first define your landscaping project and then select the rock type that best fits that purpose.

Yes, you can put topsoil over sand to encourage grass growth. The topsoil will help to improve water retention and promote grass roots’ development, making it a recommended step of the seeding process. Adding a layer of topsoil will provide additional nutrients to the sandy soil, helping the grass grow and remain healthy through many seasons.
