Small jobs welcome

"This was an amazing experience. Javier is very knowledgeable and did a great job with what me and my husband wanted. He was able to make a closet that is functional as an office space as well, he’s very professional and leaves the area very clean afterwards. Will book again for another project. -Christal"

Customers say: True professional

"Robert, Did some custom wood work for an antique bed that my fiance and her late father refurbished together. This bed is now the showpiece in our guest room, and we are very grateful to Robert for that. He also made a beautiful one of kind wood and glass two-stage credenza to display the wine glass and decanters at a venue that I manage in Sarasota. We get compliments all the time on this beautiful piece. In short, Robert is professional, creative, takes in your vision, and will complete the project in the time frame that he promises. I would highly recommend him to anyone; his craftsmanship as a carpenter is second-to-none."

"Went beyond my expectation to repair my cypress fence and add a partial new panel. My fence was leaning and about to fall due to a palm tree pushing on it. Other contractors wanted to remove palm, or brace from my neighbors yard or just told me to save my money and get a new fence which was thousands of dollars. The other contractors made it sound impossible unless I would let them do more work than necessary. Luxury paint came in, never hesitated to fix the problem at a reasonable cost. The fence was straightened, three new posts, landscape timber at bottom and they made V around the palm with my neighbor's permission. It looks great, is secure for my dog and they cleaned all debris. You would not know workers were here. I highly recommend them."

"Hired Roman to fix some wood rot for me and he was able to handle the project within 24 hours of being contacted. Not only did he complete the project I gave him, but also went above and beyond and painted the new wood as well as caulked and sealed for no additional charge. Would not hesitate to use Roman again for any project big or small in the future!"

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.

While carpenters and woodworkers perform similar tasks, their focus differs. A carpenter is typically responsible for the structural woodwork involved in construction, such as framing, installing sheathing, hanging kitchen cabinets, and installing trusses. In contrast, a woodworker handles more intricate and custom projects, like building custom furniture, installing wainscoting, and creating detailed interior trim and moldings. Based on these definitions, many woodworkers can perform the tasks of a carpenter, but it's always best to discuss your specific project with a professional to ensure they have the necessary skills.

Most landscape timbers are 8 feet long, but some are also available in 10-foot and 12-foot lengths. Choose the length that will allow you to install landscape timbers using the least amount of cutting to fit. Shorter timbers will allow you to more easily create angles and shorter plant bed sides.

It is not recommended to cut or drill into LVL (laminated veneer lumber) beams. As major structural components of a home, their composite structure can be compromised by alterations, which can weaken them and lead to cracking over time. If you must make modifications to an LVL beam, it is crucial to consult a structural engineer or general contractor first. A professional can advise on whether it's safe and provide specifics on the appropriate bit size, depth, and directionality for any necessary drilling.

While the Arts and Crafts movement inspired many architectural elements, the primary styles from the time include Craftsman, Tudor Revivals, bungalows, and Mission homes. You'll see elements of these styles in homes, churches, museums, and schools—particularly Country Day schools from the era.
