Small jobs welcome

"This was an amazing experience. Javier is very knowledgeable and did a great job with what me and my husband wanted. He was able to make a closet that is functional as an office space as well, he’s very professional and leaves the area very clean afterwards. Will book again for another project. -Christal"

Customers say: True professional

"Robert, Did some custom wood work for an antique bed that my fiance and her late father refurbished together. This bed is now the showpiece in our guest room, and we are very grateful to Robert for that. He also made a beautiful one of kind wood and glass two-stage credenza to display the wine glass and decanters at a venue that I manage in Sarasota. We get compliments all the time on this beautiful piece. In short, Robert is professional, creative, takes in your vision, and will complete the project in the time frame that he promises. I would highly recommend him to anyone; his craftsmanship as a carpenter is second-to-none."

"Went beyond my expectation to repair my cypress fence and add a partial new panel. My fence was leaning and about to fall due to a palm tree pushing on it. Other contractors wanted to remove palm, or brace from my neighbors yard or just told me to save my money and get a new fence which was thousands of dollars. The other contractors made it sound impossible unless I would let them do more work than necessary. Luxury paint came in, never hesitated to fix the problem at a reasonable cost. The fence was straightened, three new posts, landscape timber at bottom and they made V around the palm with my neighbor's permission. It looks great, is secure for my dog and they cleaned all debris. You would not know workers were here. I highly recommend them."

"Todd is AWESOME. We added shiplap to three ceilings and casing around all the windows and patio door. Todd arrived exactly as promised and did amazing work. He even scheduled a painting contractor to follow him with the needed painting. A BIG thank you and job well done!"

"Hired Roman to fix some wood rot for me and he was able to handle the project within 24 hours of being contacted. Not only did he complete the project I gave him, but also went above and beyond and painted the new wood as well as caulked and sealed for no additional charge. Would not hesitate to use Roman again for any project big or small in the future!"

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

When building a house, it is customary to use 16d nails that measure 3 1/2 inches in length to construct the frame. These nails are crucial in providing the necessary support and stability for structural elements like joists and studs, which ensures a sturdy framework.

While the Arts and Crafts movement inspired many architectural elements, the primary styles from the time include Craftsman, Tudor Revivals, bungalows, and Mission homes. You'll see elements of these styles in homes, churches, museums, and schools—particularly Country Day schools from the era.

The pro you need to hire to build your shed depends on the shed you purchase. A local handyman or general contractor can help build a prefab shed for you. However, if you’re looking for a custom shed, contacting a shed builder near you is the best option. Make sure you get quotes from 3 pros to decide on the best pro for your job.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

Joists and beams are both part of the flooring system above your basement, with the beams spanning the length of your home and getting support from vertical posts underneath, and joists usually spanning half the width of your home with no support posts underneath. The floor joists provide even support to the subflooring and flooring above, and they distribute that load to the beams. The beams then distribute that load down through the support posts to the foundation.
