"We have used Scott multiple times. There is nothing he can't do. He is prompt, respectful, hardworking and talented! His woodworking skills are amazing. If something needs to be figured out, he will solve the problem. I think nothing of leaving him in my home. He is very honest. He put copper tile on our fireplace in the picture below. We are changing the doors so it is not finished but it is just 1/100 th of what he has done for us."

"I recently hired Modesto Alemany to replace the wood floor of a 16'x18' deck. The project required more repairs than anticipated, which demanded additional work and a lot of ingenuity. The job was completed within budget and every speck of debris was cleaned up. He and his crew were very polite & courteous, and I wholeheartedly recommend this contractor. mpleted the job within budget and cleaned up every speck of debris."

"I was very impressed. Neyi was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The decorating advice she provided and the space planning that was done to my home turned out beautiful. She even created a 3D of my space to show how the room would look like when done. The 3D was extremely helpful, I am a visual person. Furthermore, I absolutely recommend Neyi Arias for your next interior design project. By the way she is also fluent in Spanish. Thank you Neyi!"

"I hired Rick and his crew to remodel a bathroom, reconfigure a closet to accommodate a one- piece washer and dryer combination to replace an old combination unit and sheetrock holes from vents from an HVAC system that had been updated to mini splits. As you can imagine, when opening up walls in an older building, there were issues. I was always kept abreast of those issues, informed of what COULD be done and given their suggestions of how to rectify the problem so I could make informed decisions. I was kept in constant contact in person or by phone or text. I was really surprised and pleased at how clean they left the job inside and out. The end result is beyond my expectations. I will definitly call them for my next project. I love the fact that I now have laundry facilities at home and much needed storage in a small bathroom."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

No, you do not usually tip a carpenter for their work. However, if you’ve been very happy with the level of service and quality of work, a 10% to 20% tip would likely be accepted with thanks. If you’re not sure, it can help to discuss the carpenter’s policy or preference for tipping before beginning the project.

Professionals ensure precise alignment and durability, critical for structural integrity.

Hiring a woodworker can be expensive, depending on the job, but it’s very often well worth the investment. Woodworkers are able to provide custom pieces of furniture and handmade construction to present a finished product that is exactly to your specifications. If you have a specific vision for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or home feature, the cost of hiring a professional woodworker is worthwhile. Plus, you’ll often get a higher quality product than what you could buy in stores for a fraction of the price.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

Joists do distribute their load to beams, but they don’t sit on top of the beams. Instead, home builders nail or screw the joists directly to the beams such that the end of the joist butts up against the edge of the beam. Beams can sit on other beams for support, but you’ll never see a joist sitting on top of a beam or another joist.
