"I was extremely happy with the work completed by John and Quality Woodworking Interiors. John refaced existing cabinets with new doors/drawers did original work including building drawers, adding a hidden garbage and recycle station and changing some doors to drawers. I went through an extensive bid/due diligence process. I felt John was reasonably priced and it was important to me that the person doing the bid was the one who actually performed the work. John was very professional in all our interactions, showed up on time, worked diligently and made sure that we were happy with the finished project....on top of that he is really nice. We are pleased with the project and I would recommend Quality Woodworking to anyone."

"Thoughtful assessment of our problem and realistic cost estimate. Not the cheapest by any means but the most likely to succeed. Workers were diligent, respectful, timely. Put in a full days work and extra time on weekend in order to complete the job. Meticulous attention to detail."

"They can help you with everything. My designer was great and was able to put my vision into drawings. The contractors were friendly and professional, very experienced. We had a couple hiccups but worked through them quickly. They remodeled my kitchen & we moved the bathroom around, & moved the laundry room to be more efficient. Absolutely love the finished product and have received many compliments!"

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

While carpenters and woodworkers perform similar tasks, their focus differs. A carpenter is typically responsible for the structural woodwork involved in construction, such as framing, installing sheathing, hanging kitchen cabinets, and installing trusses. In contrast, a woodworker handles more intricate and custom projects, like building custom furniture, installing wainscoting, and creating detailed interior trim and moldings. Based on these definitions, many woodworkers can perform the tasks of a carpenter, but it's always best to discuss your specific project with a professional to ensure they have the necessary skills.

Tipping contractors, builders, or general contractors is not customary or expected. Unlike many service professions where tipping is built into the payment structure, construction professionals typically charge a full rate for their services. However, you may choose to tip a worker for exceptional service, such as if they go above and beyond, stay late to meet a deadline, or work on a holiday weekend. Before offering a tip, it's a good idea to ask about the company's policy, as some prohibit their employees from accepting gratuities. If you want to show your appreciation for a job well done without giving a cash tip, consider writing a positive online review or offering to serve as a reference for potential new customers.

Professionals ensure safe, thorough repairs using quality materials, extending the life of your structure.

Hiring a woodworker can be expensive, depending on the job, but it’s very often well worth the investment. Woodworkers are able to provide custom pieces of furniture and handmade construction to present a finished product that is exactly to your specifications. If you have a specific vision for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or home feature, the cost of hiring a professional woodworker is worthwhile. Plus, you’ll often get a higher quality product than what you could buy in stores for a fraction of the price.

No, beams are the primary load-bearers for flooring or roofing systems, and they distribute the weight of the structure to your foundational supports, while joists bear far less weight and distribute their loads to the beams. Beams are usually thicker and longer, and they have support posts or foundation walls beneath them for support.
