"Groutsmith was incredible! The two ladies did a fantastic job - Where I had never liked the tile before, it now looks like a new floor, especially as the grout lines have been lightened. Highly recommend this company. The show now looks refreshed; front outside flagstone steps and landing to be done next."

"Dean did such a great job on my master bath, that I decided to renovate my guest bath as well. Dean is honest, dependable and does quality work at a reasonable price. I highly recommend Southside Tile."

"Rex does a beautiful job. He has earned my highest recommendation. He remodeled our shower, tiled my house and tiled my mother’s house. He is a true professional. You can count on him to do a good job. He communicates the status (many contractors do not). He is dependable, and works very hard. You won’t be disappointed. I would hire him again in a heartbeat! "Scheduler was nice, Estimator seemed good, Crew was friendly but failed to clean off replacement tile, chipped existing tile next to replaced tile and tile where they drilled into grout to rebond them. Didn't notice until next day that grout was uneven where they replaced it."

"Luis did a great job! He did a fantastic job, replacement of carpet with ceramic tiles about 800 sqft, took off the carpet , resurfaced the floor, nicely installed the tiles with proper alignment and spacing, grout, quarter round and paint. He is very professional, on time and responsive person. I highly recommend him for flooring projects."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Figure out how much tile you need by measuring the backsplash area. Measure the height and length in feet and multiply to get the square footage. Don’t make adjustments for outlets or small cutouts but subtract the square footage for windows or other large obstructions from the total. To account for waste, get 10% more than your calculation.

Penny tile should be sealed to protect the grout from moisture and keep stains from damaging the look of the tile. If penny tile is in a humid or high-traffic area, like a bathroom, kitchen, or entryway, it needs sealant. Any type of tile and grout is best maintained with a sealant reapplied by a pro every one to two years.

The easiest tile size to install is large tiles, and they’re easier to install than small tiles—the job is faster and simpler when there’s less placing, adhering, and grouting to do. However, when tiles get really big, they’re more difficult to handle, cut, and fit. Standard floor tile sizes are 12-by-12 inches, 18-by-18 inches, and 12-by-24 inches.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all best tile for a dog shower. Consider your budget, tile durability, aesthetics, and, most importantly, practicality. Avoid tiles your dog will slide around on. Pebbles are a great non-slip option, but are pricey and tricky to install. Glass might look modern, but it’s not scratch-resistant. Small, floor-rated ceramic or porcelain tiles are economical and have many grout lines that make the surface more slip-resistant. Pick a matte finish rather than a shiny tile if you want it to hide stray mud and hairs better.

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.
