"Rex does a beautiful job. He has earned my highest recommendation. He remodeled our shower, tiled my house and tiled my mother’s house. He is a true professional. You can count on him to do a good job. He communicates the status (many contractors do not). He is dependable, and works very hard. You won’t be disappointed. I would hire him again in a heartbeat! "I have an 80 year old house with solid white oak flooring that TPA Hardwood restored back to their glory days. We had termite and water damaged areas that Mr. RIOS and his crew were able to replace perfectly with the rest of the house. They were on time and very professional and they kept me informed thru out the scope of the work till the very end. They went above and beyond, and we trusted Ed, with the house while we were away on vacation, and he treated like it was his own. The floors came out amazing!!!!! I highly recommend TPA Hardwood Flooring you will not regret it. Thank Ed"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

It’s best to install a shower door after the bathroom tile is in place to ensure you have accurate measurements. If you try installing a shower door first, the tile might be too thick to install afterward, or the tile will be too thin and create a gap between the shower doors that allows water to leak. With the tile in place first, you’ll know the exact shower door size that you need.

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.

Popular options include ceramic, porcelain, stone, and glass tiles, chosen based on the area (bathroom, kitchen) and desired aesthetic.

There are several tools that you will use together to install tiles. Four of the most basic tools needed in tile installation include a notched trowel for applying tile adhesive, a tile cutter or saw for cutting tiles to size, tile spacers for creating the appropriate amount of space between tiles, and a grout float for applying grout.

Yes, you can tile a shower as a DIY project, and you can save hundreds of dollars in labor costs by doing so. However, you’ll need to rent or buy quite a few tools and supplies for the job, including a saw, tile nippers, and a new shower pan. In terms of the work itself, you should be prepared to tackle a variety of different tasks, including measuring and ordering materials, removing old tile, waterproofing the wall, adding rows of tile, grouting, and more.
