"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"

We wanted to remodel our newly purchased condo but didn't think we'd be able to afford all the projects we had in mind because of the limitations of our budget. A couple of local contractors in Gulf Shores had estimated a minimum cost of $40,000. We contacted Help-Around-the-House based on favorable Angie's List reviews and found that they more than live up to their great reputation. Dan Parks and his team worked closely with us from start to finish, not only helping us to stay within our budget but also coming up with ideas that were better than what we originally had in mind. All of the work was of high quality, yet it was done amazing fast.  We couldn't be more satisfied with the final result.  We definitely recommend Dan Parks and the Help-Around-the-House team to anyone who wants high quality work done at a fair price.

"Our front doors are cherry wood with mahogany finish with embedded leaded glass and they are 20 years old.  We must maintain the wood every spring.  However, with the amount of rain we had this spring/summer we had to wait.  It was time.  I found Allen on Angie's List.  We called him on a Saturday and were very impressed with his promptness in giving us a free estimate the next day (Sunday) as my husband & I work.  The next Saturday he came to spot test the door to match the stain.
Two days later, Allen came and prepped the doors and stained.  The next day he applied finish.  On top of that, he corrected some splits in the wood from age and weathering.  The overall completion was perfect!  The doors look brand new!  We'd had done in the past by others, but nothing compares to the absolute perfection performed by Allen.  We highly recommend him. We will DEFINITELY use his services from now on.  Thank you, Allen, for a fantastic job!

"Ramos Builders Group did an outstanding job on our garage. They were prompt, courteous, and very skilled. They completed the job a day earlier that projected and even corrected poor quality work from the original home builder. They also bundled up all the garbage and hauled it away with no extra charge. Very happy with their work."

"The deck came out great. It was priced fairly and completed at the time that the owner stated. I ended up hiring him back to fix an area of trim that was leaking into the house. Both of these got the ultimate test in Hurricane Sally and both held together nicely. I could not recommend more."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

To know if home building will impact other systems, check your required permits. Local inspectors require separate trade permits for electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work, signaling which systems need attention. In Pace, sandy soils shift plumbing lines during foundation work, and high humidity demands proper HVAC resizing for new additions. You must also evaluate your electrical panel capacity and ensure grading changes direct stormwater safely away from your foundation.

Helpful?

During home building in Pace, you must select licensed contractors and verify their credentials. You are responsible for determining the placement of additions to comply with strict zoning setbacks and neighborhood rules. If your property lacks municipal connections, you must decide between septic systems and well water upgrades. You must also choose your finished floor elevation in flood zones and select specific wind resistance upgrades to protect your property.

Helpful?

A custom home building project in Pace takes ten to fourteen months, while room additions require three to five months. Permit processing adds ten to twenty-one business days to your timeline. Hurricane season weather delays, extreme summer heat, and local skilled labor shortages will extend these timeframes. Additionally, the sandy soil in this region demands extra foundation engineering, adding two to four weeks to the pre-construction phase.

Helpful?

Signs of faulty home building include missing permits or certificates of occupancy in county records. In FL, improper window flashing leads directly to visible mold and soft drywall. You must watch for diagonal cracks near doors, which indicate foundation settlement in sandy soils. Other serious hazards include missing hurricane straps in the attic, struggling HVAC systems, warm electrical outlets, and termite mud tubes near untreated wood framing.

Helpful?

After completing home building, request a final inspection to obtain your certificate of occupancy. You must formally close all open permits to prevent future property sale complications. In FL, schedule a wind mitigation inspection to update your insurance records. You should also verify your flood zone designation, test and balance your HVAC system, and arrange for subterranean termite re-treatment to protect any new wood framing from infestations.
