"This is going to be a super long review. In July we met to have an estimate on having fencing and an estate gate installed. This was not a cheap job at all, this was almost $15,000 in services that he was hired for. In August (when we were finally put on the schedule) we gave him a deposit required to purchase all of our materials. In Sept they finally decided to show up and do "some" work. Always an excuse on why they can't make it or if they do show up it is for an hour here or there. Then 'boom' no contact for days always with an excuse too, oh I didn't see the text or I was driving and I couldn't get to it, my phone wasn't working, I did not know you called, etc. After several calls, texts and emails after leaving him a voicemail that he left gaping holes in my front that if someone walks and falls I can be sued (these holes were about 2-3 feet deep). Still no response. I called and disputed my credit charge for 1 of the 2 payments made. (There is a 3rd one coming up, so bare with me) Still no response. I posted on social media that I was looking to hire a company to finish his work and someone recommended them and I basically put them on blast about their lack of work. Wouldn't ya know it, I got a phone call within 5 minutes! Let's move forward. We are now in October and STILL not completed. He could not get the estate gate because the company was backed up. Keep in mind I paid for this gate back in August and he chose never to order it. Fast forward to now. He finally did get the estate gate up (not completed) on 10/17 and billed me for the remainder. I told him I would pay him the balance in a few days. Still waiting for him to complete the job. Again, lets fast forward. I get a threatening text from him on 10/22 (5 days I waited over 3 months) that there will be a lien on my property, of course it isn't his fault blah, blah, blah??. Why you ask? Oh, because he did not have the money to pay for the estate gate that I paid for months ago (he still owed them $400 and change and did not have that to pay. Yes, that is right he could not pay his balance of $400 to his supplier. After back and forth telling him if he finished the job, (I had a broken pin pad, missing a sensor and holes all over) he would get paid. Wouldn't ya know it, BAM here and gone in 2 hours, with nothing fixed. I assure you, I am keeping this light and short and leaving out details. Not to mention all the cigarettes' and empty beer cans that were left as well as leaving materials for weeks killing my lawn. All of this for less than subpar work as well. If you are looking for a fence company THIS IS NOT IT! His last several reviews pretty much say the same thing. At one point, he may have had a decent reputation and business, he no longer does. It is never his fault, he never takes blame or accountability for anything and always seemed to blame me or anyone else but him. If you do go with them make sure you get a release of lien BEFORE you pay him so when he doesn't pay his suppliers you are not held liable and make sure you can wait weeks to months to have work done and are ready to dish out extra cash to fix your property (lawn) because he doesn't finish his jobs."

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

You can use pressure-treated wood for a horizontal fence, but you’ll need to purchase a thicker and higher-quality variety to ensure it doesn’t sag or warp after you install it. Use #2 pine grade lumber and boards and thicker dimensional lumber, such as a two-by-six. You’ll also need to use stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners, as the chemicals in the treated lumber will cause regular galvanized fasteners to rust.

Regularly check for rust, tighten loose bolts, and remove debris buildup to extend the fence’s lifespan.

Wood fences last an average of 15 years but can have a life span of 20 years or more depending on the type of wood used, your local weather, and how well you maintain it over the years. Pine fences will only last five to 10 years if untreated, but pressure-treated pine fences will get you to 20 years. Cedar’s natural resistance to the elements lends it to a remarkable lifespan of 40 years or more.

Concrete is one of the easiest, most cost-efficient, and most effective ways to stabilize a fence post. To stabilize a fence post with concrete, you’ll dig a hole around the post in question and fill it up with concrete—easy as that. Concrete lasts about 50 years on average, so it’s a long-term solution.

In many cases, yes, homeowners insurance covers fences. Home insurance policies protect your home and other structures on your property, often including fences. So, if the fence damage was caused by a covered event (like a storm or fire), your insurer may cover some of the cost to repair or replace your fence.
