Personal Touch Contracting can design that perfect space you’ve been dreaming of. Whether it is an indoor space like a library or den, or an outdoor area for family cookouts, you can count on us. We have also partnered with a state of the art local showroom that can help you design and choose the perfect combination of products to help you bring your project vision to a concrete reality.

"DO NOT use Personal Touch Contracting. My master bathroom remodel took 9 weeks to be completed after Jeff stated it was a 4-week project. There was no “personal touch” to their services. Communication was minimal, details were overlooked frequently and had to be brought to Jeff’s attention and overall, the quality of work was lacking. My husband and I decided to fix the final painting issues (horrible texture job on the wall and a small hole in the wall behind the toilet) ourselves rather than have anyone from this company return to do the work. Jeff had to be pressed to accept any responsibility for the many wrong turns in this job. He allowed hundreds of dollars of materials to be ordered that were not needed, although once really confronted with this case, he did admit he did not review the invoice from the tile company before I made the purchase and offered to pay for the overages. He also approved a tub filler to be ordered which did not work in the space and cost several days of the project time waiting for the correct filler to be ordered and arrive. I cannot stress enough, there are many contracting companies out there, please make a better choice then I did and do not use Personal Touch Contracting."

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

You can remove stripped screws with some elbow grease and an extractor kit for severe cases. Don’t forget to purchase replacement screws or hardware. In rare cases, cabinet handles may be glued on, in which case you can use a box cutter or similar knife and a pair of pliers to carefully remove the handle without damaging the cabinet. You may want to replace those handles entirely rather than try gluing them on again.

There is no official name for an open gap between the top of the cabinets and the ceiling. However, when that area is covered with a boxy shape to hide wires or pipes, this is known as a soffit. In some cases, this area may also be hidden with a bulkhead, a lower ceiling area that fits just above the cabinets.

With so many color choices for cabinets, you have many different ways to bring personality to your kitchen (or any other room where you are updating your cabinets). The color you choose to paint your cabinets should reflect your personal style but can also match existing wall colors or appliances. Some colors to choose from include:

  • White

  • Navy

  • Grey

  • Green

  • Taupe

Yes, likely. Most kitchen cabinets are plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Plywood is an engineered wood made by layering, pressing, and bonding thin sheets of wood veneer together. MDF is an engineered wood made by combining wood fibers with resin and wax. Both are cheaper than solid wood, but advances in the durability of MDF make it a closer alternative to the real thing.

Yes, stacked cabinets, bulkhead trim, and crown molding are worth it. This look is not only customized and high-end, but you’ll also have the added benefit of extra storage space. And because you don’t need to remove your existing cabinets to achieve this look, you’ll save by not needing to complete a kitchen remodel—which could run between $15,000 and $40,000.
