"The person who provided the quote and the people doing the work had vastly different ideas of what was possible. We had asked to level the driveway and front steps along with a small patch of bricks that connected the two. The edges of the bricks and concrete did not end up level with one another and the masonry cracked. We ended up having a mason come out to fix the bricked area. We were told that, for what we paid, we could have just had a new driveway poured."

"Dan is the definition of a professional contractor / handy man and I was very happy with the end result. I had a very unique situation where the previous owners of my condo had a huge 9 foot Murphy bed / cabinets custom installed and mounted on a living room wall. It was bolted to the wall in dozens of different places and was even glued to the wall in some areas as well. With it's huge size, the only way to get it through the front door was to take it down in pieces. However, Dan was up to the challenge and somehow managed to remove everything faster than I expected. Dan arrived exactly on time and came well prepared as he brought every tool imaginable, including a saw as he had to cut this huge wall mounted Murphy bed / shelves into pieces to get it through the front door. With decades of experience, Dan is clearly a seasoned professional and I was not surprised by his superior level of service given all the 5 start reviews I read on Angie's list before hiring him. He always quick to make recommendations and point out things I wasn't aware of throughout the entire process and he was very respectful about not damaging anything / cleaning up. On top of that, his price was incredibly reasonable for the level of services performed as it was priced very competitively compared to 2-3 other estimates I received. Unlike other contractors that simply "make up" a price for the "estimate", Dan charges by the hour, ensuring the arrangement is most fair for both sides. I only pay for the true # of hours it takes to complete the job and the contractor has more incentive to produce higher quality workmanship since he knows he's getting his full hourly rate. Bottom line, Dan showed up exactly when promised, he did exactly what we agreed upon and his fair pricing structure is simply unbeatable for the end result quality. "I called SBS because 2 previous contractors had failed to show up for work they agreed to do.  SBS was very prompt, came when they said they would, and was slightly lower in price than the 2 previous no-shows.  The tiling job went very smoothly.  They had to stop for about a week because the previous contractor had given me a low estimate on the amount of tile needed, and we had to wait for a new shipment to arrive.  When they started to repair the brick around the door, they found that the existing brick was very unstable, almost ready to collapse.  They came up with a low cost fix:  they put in metal stabilizers and packed the area with concrete and then covered the edge with a synthetic wood frame that matched the trim on the house, all without changing the original price estimate. I recommend them as dependable, quick, reasonable, and innovative, and I plan to use them for all my future jobs.
