"My house entry door had long-standing wood rot in several places. I decided I'd better get a professional to fix that. I called Scott Purvis based on his homeadvisor.com ratings. Scott came over right away, looked at the door and made some suggestions as to how he would fix the door. I liked the plan, and hired him. Scott's work was excellent, he kept me advised all along the way and I am very pleased with the door as it is now."

"I recently had Wallace Home and Property Service install laminate flooring, stair treads, and risers in my home, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Their communication was clear, they arrived on time, and they treated our home with respect throughout the project. The laminate flooring was installed with precision—tight joints, smooth transitions, and a beautiful overall finish. The staircase, which I know can be one of the more challenging parts of a project, was handled with incredible attention to detail. Each tread and riser fits perfectly, the cuts are clean, and the final result looks both modern and professionally crafted. Their workmanship, reliability, and pride in their work really show. I highly recommend Wallace Home and Property Service for anyone needing flooring or home improvement work."

"I went over the fence repairs with Alex Salazar, and he gave me a price for the work and materials of $500 cash. He arrived on time on Dec 14th and completed the repair, which took about 3 1/2 - 4 hours. I checked the work and complained that the gate he built was leaning. He came back on 12/18 and said that the fence post to which he had attached the gate was rotted at the bottom and would have to be replaced. I do not know why he did not notice this when he did the original repair?? Anyway, he said he will return tomorrow to replace the fence post to which the new gate is attached. This cost me an added fee, but he did show up on 12/24/21 and did the job, also installing a gate latch."

"He did an excellent job and it looks very professional. I have no complaints at the moment. He is very kind and has great manners for a young man. I would have given him a 5 but he was short on a couple of parts that he needed. Therefore, I will have to pick them up and call him back."

Doors questions, answered by experts

Before attempting to reinforce an apartment door, speak to the property owner. If the door hasn’t been updated in a while, the landlord may offer to cover the cost of a professional locksmith or your expense of this security update. Rekeying a door can be a costly and lengthy affair, so try low-impact, inexpensive tricks—like installing a deadlock or a door jammer—first.

Burglars are kept away from would-be targets for a number of reasons, but of 400 incarcerated burglars interviewed, the most cited reason they’d avoid a property is if there are people inside, followed by seeing officers nearby. Alarms, lights, and noises inside the house can also deter criminals from approaching.

No, you cannot install a door without a jamb. The jamb is where the hinges, strike plate, and trim are attached. A person could ostensibly attach the hinges to the door frame itself, but it would hamper the door from opening and closing like normal. Door jambs also provide crucial support for the door and security for exterior entryways.

Instead of a bifold door, you might look into installing French doors, pocket doors, or sliding doors. Each has its own pros and cons. French doors offer the dual-door advantages that bifold doors do, and pocket doors are excellent space savers—though you’ll need to create a wall cavity to have them installed.

Security doors are not limited to standard sizes, and you can customize them to fit your needs and entryway dimensions. That's one of the fantastic things about security doors—they can be tailored to match your home. Keep in mind that a custom-sized security door will likely cost more than a standard size.
