"Dee came over and gave me a quote for my new Cedar Lined Closet. He went with me to Home Depot to pick out the material and brought it over to my apartment. He was very meticulous with the design making sure that all of my requirements were met. He would ask me my opinion on certain aspects of the design which I appreciated. But I let him do most of the designing himself as he has over 30 years in the business. I am very pleased with the results. Thank you Dee!!! EXCELLENT work!"

"Betsy and her team did an outstanding job on our home, spending several very long days -  plus extra time taking curtains to the dry cleaners -  until every single inch (and I mean every inch) was cleaned to perfection. I asked them to do a very deep cleaning of the ENTIRE house, which included everything in the kitchen, all the windows, baths, floors, light fixtures, insides of closets, blinds, stairways and all surfaces that could be cleaned or wiped down. I was not disappointed. This team does the most complete cleaning job I have ever seen. (a small example: the plastic kitchen cabinet liners were not just wiped clean; they were removed and soaked in soapy water). In short, the cleaning team was meticulous, honest and reliable. Betsy was also very easy to communicate with, returning calls or texts within minutes or seconds, providing before and after pictures, and consistently going above and beyond to make sure every detail was taken care of. Considering the amount and quality of work they did, their pricing was more than fair.  Please hire Betsy and her wonderful crew!

"It was amazing. I used the virtual organization service. I had a bit of anxiety but Michelle walked me through steps to organize, and how to restore my home to a presentable state. She assured that it takes time and I'm so happy with the results. It has really jump started motivation to continue organizing."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Plywood, MDF (medium-density fiberboard), and solid wood are all popular options for closet shelving. Plywood and solid wood are sturdy and ideal for extended shelves or heavy items. MDF is a budget-friendly choice for light to moderate storage, but it can sag under heavy weight if not adequately supported. Wire shelving is another alternative that allows airflow, making it especially useful in humid spaces such as laundry rooms or basements.

Although you can complete a closet frame in just an afternoon, finishing the entire closet will take a few days to a week. However, that’s still not as much as the average time it takes to remodel a closet, which can take anywhere from several weeks to more than a month. That’s because you also have to consider the time it will take to demolish the existing space, plan a new design, order materials, and actually install it.

Adding a mudroom is one of the most budget-friendly home additions compared to other projects, costing between $8,000 and $16,000 on average. Not only is the room often quite small, but it also requires minimal fixtures or wiring to make the room practical. The most costly features include a weatherproof floor and an exterior door.

If you’re on a tight budget, the least expensive material you can buy for DIY closet shelves is chipboard, a.k.a. particle board. This inexpensive material is made from a pulp of sawdust, resin, and glue that’s pressed together under high temperature and pressure. As you can imagine, it’s not very sturdy and might buckle under your blue jean collection, so you should only use it if you’re storing very light items.

The time it takes to build a closet varies widely depending on the project's size, complexity, and level of customization. On average, construction can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks.

A simple reach-in closet might be completed in less than a day, while a more complex walk-in closet could take one to two days or more. A typical project often falls in the 2-to-5-day range. However, a large, highly customized walk-in closet that requires structural changes, like moving a load-bearing wall, will take significantly longer.

A professional contractor can provide the most accurate time estimate for your specific project. If you are planning a DIY build, it is best to budget additional time.
