"The Arborist group responded first and arrived first. Their quote was the best too. They all asked what I wanted but TAG did it. It was completed today as well as the clean up. "Their service is impeccable and impressive! I actually have used them before to take 3 large oak trees down from my home and they did great! I used their services again for my mom’s house for a large magnolia and another tree. Leroy and his crew were always professional. I didn’t have to move not one plant! (I have many plants in containers and they worked around them, not breaking any leaves!). They arrived on time, cleaned up once completed and made sure all gates were closed. You can use the formula mentioned earlier to calculate the depth of tree roots. Each inch of width of a tree trunk translates to six inches of depth within the root system. Large trees extend anywhere from 2 to 6 feet into the ground, with some magnificent specimens going even deeper.

You’ll want to have your palm trees trimmed during the spring, ideally in May, before hurricane season sets in, which generally takes place during the late summer. Palm trees grow fastest over the summer months. You’ll also want to trim your palm trees when you notice:

  • Brown fronds 

  • Dry leaves

  • Flower pods

  • Fruit

  • Fronds overgrown in power lines

  • Frond encroaching upon your neighbor’s home or yard 

  • Visible damage from a storm

You can trim just one side of the tree, especially when that side is growing near something like a power line or a home. Pros will carefully trim the tree back until it is safe from that structure. While this is common, it also needs to be done with the utmost care, as pruning or trimming away at one side of the tree may make it structurally unsound. This instance is yet another where hiring a pro is wise, especially if power lines are involved.
