"Nate's Tree Service called me this morning and I explained to him what I needed removed and he gave me an instant price quote and a time he could arrive. He even called to let me he was running late. Nate arrived and I showed him a problem area and he explained how he would remove the stump. He quickly got to work and had all the stumps removed in less than a half an hour. He even raked up the dirt and filled in the ruts his machine made in my yard. I was very very pleased with his work, his professionalism and his politeness. I will most definitely rehire Nate's Tree Service and recommend their service to my neighbors."

"They ground up a MASSIVE tree stump in my backyard. They showed up when they said they would, charged me what they said they would and cleaned up the area really well after the work was done. I’d definitely hire them again and would recommend them to both friends and family. Good stuff! 👍"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Generally, no, tree topping isn’t a good technique, and you should avoid using it in most cases. Tree topping may be the only good option to save a tree following severe damage after a storm, but in most other cases, it’s not the right choice. Tree topping can leave trees vulnerable to disease and further damage, and most pros will suggest against it.

Palm trees will not regrow from a stump once the tree has been cut down. This type of tree is unique because the root and stump system will slowly decay after the tree is gone, unlike other species that can regrow. That’s why it’s preferable to remove dead or decaying palm tree stumps quickly as they can become an eyesore and don’t offer future growing potential.

Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.

Trees don’t usually grow back after being cut down. Some particularly robust tree species may start sending up new stems from a stump to recover, but those stems won’t become a “tree” like before. Generally, trees don’t recover from being entirely cut down, which is why it’s important to be careful when making a decision. When you cut down a tree, it’s a good idea to make plans to remove the stump, even if it’s unlikely to grow back.

In some states and municipalities, you will need a permit to remove a tree on your property. In many cases where permits are required, a tree must reach a maximum height before a permit is required to remove it. You can either ask your local building department or a tree removal professional if you’ll need a permit. If you do, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 for the permit alone. Your tree removal company should pull the permit for you and include the permit fee in your total.
