Customers say: Quick response

"Reviewed by Joe. Project: remove stones add stucco. Excellent work. He really knows his stonework. He removed all of the large stones from our home and applied new stucco. New stones were applied to the front of our home. He did additional work to improve our home. We would use J& M Masonry again."

"We had a great experience working with Juan and Cove Concrete & Company. The entire team was very courteous and helpful. The job was completed with a fair price. I highly appreciate that they were such a pleasure, and recommend them for your project."

"Excellent! Despite having old coping that was cracked and pulling away from the slab. The guys were able to glue the two cracked pieces together so I would not have mismatched pieces and reset the pieces pulling away Yes, you can see the crack but it is together and all the pieces are matched. Also the crew checked the rest of the joints and made repairs where they saw it was needed. They showed up before I went to work and repaired it while I was at work. Trustworthy and dependable."

"Darla is extremely personable and knowledgeable in landscaping and what works well in our climate. She is timely and follows up on her work. She even went out of her way to meet with a sprinkler installer while we were out of town. The sprinkler installer was not a part of her job but she wanted to make sure it was done correctly. I highly recommend Epic Vine Design! I saw her work at another home and knew immediately I wanted Darla to design my landscaping! Sheâ s awesome!!"

"Service went great. They showed up on time with all the proper equipment. Removed the 3 ugly trees, replaced the 2 beautiful trees. They cleaned up everything, and made the house look brand new. Total time was less than 4 hours. My wife and I are thrilled"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

You should generally drill into the mortar joints when installing shutters on brick. Mortar is softer, which makes drilling easier and puts less strain on your tools. It also lowers the risk of cracking a brick—something that’s a lot harder to fix. Mortar holds fasteners well enough for standard shutters, and if you ever need to patch the holes later, it’s a much simpler job than dealing with damaged brick. Just keep in mind that if your mortar joints are too thin or the hardware calls for brick anchoring, you'll need to check the manufacturer’s recommendations and adjust accordingly.

No, it’s not recommended to attach shutters to brick without drilling. Brick is dense and built to last, so adhesives and shortcut methods don’t usually cut it. Even heavy-duty glue struggles to hold up over time—especially against wind, moisture, and temperature changes. Most no-drill options are made for materials like vinyl or wood, not solid masonry. Skipping the drill might seem easier, but it puts your shutters—and anything below them—at risk. For a secure, lasting install, drilling is the way to go. It takes more effort up front, but the result is safer and more reliable.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) recommends placing a mailbox 6 inches to 8 inches back from the curb. If your lot is unusual, speak with town authorities or the local post office to determine the correct placement.

You can use adhesive strips to hang lights on brick—just make sure you get outdoor mounting tape and not just any old double-sided tape for your project.

A traditional rectangular brick that is used for siding, brick walks, and pathways is 8 inches long by 4 inches wide. If you are shopping for fire bricks, the standard dimension is typically 9 inches long by 4.5 inches wide.
