"We are very pleased with the work that Sunstate did at our home. The patio and fire pit look amazing. I chose Sunstate for the job because they were the most timely of the three companies that I requested a quote from. They were the first to return my phone call, first to come out to see our property and most timely with getting back to us with an estimate. From the time I put in a request in to Home Advisor to the completed project - less than a month!! We were a smaller job but they were able to work us into their schedule. This meant that I needed to be a bit flexible and the work happened over the course of three consecutive days - one in which was a Saturday. Kudos for having a crew willing to finish a job on a weekend. Because they are a full landscape service they were able to also attend to a another task cutting down five trees while working in the patio. Pretty much any request or issue I may of had they responded with, “No problem, we can do that.” Thank you - Tom & Gina.. and your awesome team!"

"Dan and his crew are amazing. Very professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy. They are very talented at what they do and help you to achieve the so desire look you want to obtain. They have this 3D feature on which they build the project for you so you can visualize how things are going to look. Dan is always available and has answer all of my questions even when the project was completed. I recommend them to everyone I know, because I trust them. My patio and fire pit area look beautiful and now I can say that I enjoy sitting outside every day. I will for sure continue hiring them for future jobs."

Patios questions, answered by experts

A Florida room is a home addition that has finished walls with windows lining the perimeter, while a screened-in porch, also known as an Arizona room, lacks windows and instead has screens to maintain constant ventilation. Florida rooms provide longer enjoyment throughout the year because they’re closed off and will naturally get heated from the sun, while a screened-in porch will just be the same temperature as the ambient air.

Yes, it can be worth screening a porch if you live in an area with beautiful weather, since it allows you to enjoy your outdoor space longer in the spring and summer. The additional protected space may even attract more prospective buyers if you intend to sell—especially if you add seasonal features, like a ceiling fan for summer or a heater to winterize your screened porch.

Creating a screen room is one of the most cost-effective ways to enclose a patio so you can still use it in the winter. Most screen rooms aren’t insulated, so you’ll need to wrap up warm or use patio heaters in winter. Also, be aware they might not hold up well if you live in a location where heavy snow is common.

While there is no one size that’s considered best, the sunroom size that’s best for you will come down to the size of your home and how you want to use your sunroom. Smaller sunrooms under 120 square feet provide a nice semi-outdoor sitting area, medium-sized sunrooms between 120 and 200 square feet can house an outdoor dining area and a small area for additional seating, and large sunrooms over 200 square feet can serve multiple purposes and even include an outdoor kitchen.

If you want to hire a professional to build a screened-in porch, a local sunroom or porch contractor is your best bet. If you can't find a local sunroom builder, another option is to consider hiring a general contractor to perform the work.

If you're handy, you may consider building the porch yourself. Before you do so, make sure you understand the local permit requirements and building codes so that you don't have any problems with the safety or structure of the porch.
