SURFSIDE PAVERS

I recently completed a large pool and deck renovation project with Surfside Pavers. The work involved the setting of more than 2500 square feet of large format 20 mm and 10 mm porcelain tile. The job was quite challenging for a variety of reasons but particularly because of the multiple elevations and the many complicated angles involved. I have to say it was executed to perfection. Surfside’s attention to detail was exemplary. I never saw anyone setting tile without simultaneously verifying their work with a large level. As a result, the tiles were all perfectly aligned with one another and the drainage of the deck was even better than promised. I particularly want to thank Keith Spalding for overseeing the project. He always made time to explain their plans and intentions and patiently answered my many questions. It was obvious he had complete control of the situation and was absolutely dedicated to making our vision a reality. I would recommend Surfside Pavers unreservedly. Excellent! Despite having old coping that was cracked and pulling away from the slab. The guys were able to glue the two cracked pieces together so I would not have mismatched pieces and reset the pieces pulling away Yes, you can see the crack but it is together and all the pieces are matched. Also the crew checked the rest of the joints and made repairs where they saw it was needed. They showed up before I went to work and repaired it while I was at work. Trustworthy and dependable.

Surfside pavers are the best. Repaired our driveway (damaged by roofers) exactly the way we wanted them to, and it was a challenge because we weren't sure we had enough extra pavers to do it...but they figured it out and it is beautiful, better than it was before. Kudos to William and his crew.

THEY BUILT A STONE PATIO FOR ME. THEY CAME ON TIME AND WORKED CONSTANTLY TO FINISH ON TIME. THE PATIO IS BEAUTIFUL. THEY CLEANED UP WHEN THE JOB WAS COMPLETE. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WOULD BE THAT THEY LEFT THEIR LEFTOVER STONE AND PATIO SAND IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE PICKING IT UP. THE DIRT FROM THAT RUINED THE LOOK OF MY RECENTLY PRESSURE WASHED DRIVEWAY.

The leveling of the pavers was well done and the work has held up during the ensuing year. We didn't receive an estimate to refinish and seal the pavers.

Not Well. My husband, politely asked crew to cut pavers away from the house due to wind and large amounts of paver dust. They did the first day when husband was there. He even offered to cover the lanai in plastic and they said it would be fine. The second day, when he was gone, they either forgot or did not care. When I arrived home from work the entire screened in 10X30 lanai and all its contents including the cat were COVERED in paver dust. The workers were unapologetic and intimidating when I complained about the mess and left without helping to put back the temporary fencing around the open pool area (husband was not there). When the owner showed up the next day to look around, he was rude and unapologetic! The pool contractor had to hire someone to help power wash the lanai and the furniture, but I had to hand clean the plants, decor, and the cat, etc. Wasted an entire weekend in clean-up.

Bill and his crew arrived on-time on the day work was to begin.  They were  professional, informative, knowledgeable and customer focused in every aspect of this project. They protected all areas as necessary,  were careful in removing the old driveway and sidewalk.  They validated our expectations and kept us informed during the entire project.  It was estimated that the entire job would take 2 days and they were completely finished as promised.  The new sidewalk and patio area they installed turned out better than we had expected.  As pleased as we were when the paver work was completed we were even more pleased once they came back and sealed the entire paver area.

They did the original install of the pavers and it was time to get everything cleaned up. They cleaned everything up to look like new
and resealed it all! They were responsive and quick to get me a bid, showed up when they said they would and completed the work as promised. I'm ready to enjoy my pool deck for the summer! Great team, will definately continue to use them in the future.

Sales person came out gave estimate, work was completed within 10 days.  Crews showed up on time.  Cleanup was sufficient.  Finished product came out great.  They did not raise two valves for spa jets, had to call to schedule, repair guy showed up a couple days later and fixed them.  Overall job went very well and we are very pleased.

The pool/deck work went well except the paver supplier did not include a ratio size mix so that the installer ran out of the largest size pavers and we adapted the design for the changes.

The walkway installation first installation was not completely level and the boarder was erratic. We contacted the company and they sent Chuck out and he agreed and got a crew out to fix the issues as soon as weather permitted. Surfside was very responsive but some of their crews are better installers than others.  

It went great. They were extremely flexible even during the install of our pavers. I will use again for phase II of our project!

The pool area was contracted through our pool builder, which started out okay.  However, one pallet of brick delivered was not correct, making our job short of brick.  This resulted in many more cuts involving very small pieces (the size of a silver dollar or smaller) all along the drain area.  Since this area takes on water, those small pieces disappear and we now have holes left. They were unable to install the walk out pads at the screen doors because of the lack of brick, and left all materials of sand and concrete on the job site for 30 days waiting on the date to the driveway to finish.  However, this prevented other work from being done timely or correctly. By the end of the job, the correct brick was delivered, but the workers did not correct their workmanship. Warranty was requested 30 days ago, and we are still waiting.  There are other things about the pool area that we are not 100% satisfied over. So we are rating the work here a solid 'C'.
The delays in the driveway were numerous, the commitment of the crew was below average, the company tried to make up for it at the end, but it not end on time or without some controversy. 
The beauty of what we hoped for in brick verses concrete has been somewhat diminished due to the cuts, the gaps without sand, or to much sand, and cuts in the high traffic areas of the property.  We chose Surfside because our pool builder had a good history with the company.  We experienced a great deal of frustration and disappointment in the overall process, and part of this stems from our lack of knowledge at to what we understood about the pavers.

Working with Rick was easy.  He was professional and had the team perform requested touchups to finish the job.

We checked out several companies to replace our rock garden with a clean looking paved area.  This company came recommended by the screen enclosure company.  We met with them in person over our Christmas visit to our house, we currently live in Hawaii, and spent several emails finalizing the pavers, design and installation dates.  We do not live in that house full time so we were not in a hurry to have it completed.  Rick, at Surfside pavers, was always quick to return our emails and answer all our questions.   We did everything by mail and email.  It was very painless.
Once the pavers were ordered and in stock, they were delivered to our house a couple days before installation.  Approximately 5 guys showed up on the day of installation and finished the work in one day.  We were on facetime with our tenant watching it proceed and they worked efficiently.
Some of the pavers were broken during shipment, so the work was not totally finished.  Rick has to order more pavers to finish off one line of work.  I've asked him to leave a few extras at the end of work in case we have any other cracks in the future and he says that is no problem.
We are very happy with their work and very happy to deal with Rick.  He's always been very personable and very reliable throughout this process.  Always answering our questions and doing so in a quick reply email. We would be very happy to recommend this company to others.
