The work went terrific. I think they did underestimate the work and instead of one week, it took almost two weeks to complete. They never flinched and worked through it in the August heat and completed the job perfectly. The best part of the project was that with the reflective metal and the insulation barrier dropped my attic temperature from about 140 degrees in the summer to about 102 degrees. It is hard to estimate the energy savings, but I did seem to see a drop in my electric bills. I did see a huge drop in my insurance. The original roof on my 22 year old house was causing me to use Florida Citizens Insurance of last resort and I was paying about $3800/year. After the roof replacement I was able to look around and get a new insurance company with a rate of $1900/year (HALF!). Some of that difference is due to the age of my original roof jacking up my rate, but the wind mitigation changes performed and documented by Frank contributed in a big way! I'm 55 years old. If I stay in this house the rest of my life I won't have to replace this roof again! I also fully believe that this roof adds value to the house too. For this reason, while the roof costs much more than a standard shingle roof (maybe double in my case because of lots of extras), I definitely feel it was worth the investment. (Note that I checked that that the price was perfect in the review. It was painful paying that much, but if you want the best then you need to evaluate the price versus the benefit. In the end I think it was an investment that will last and pay back. I don't think you can say the same about asphalt shingles.)

One note to those that are planning on taking the reflective roof tax break (if it is still available) - note that the tax code specifies that the metal must be coated with an approved heat reflective color and Galvalume does not qualify. (This was not a problem for me because I did some research before hand, but you need to know about this if you were planning on using that tax break.)

Thanks to Frank and his team for excellent and professional quality work! I don't usually give perfect reviews, but in this case they deserve it.

"MARC JONES CONSTRUCTION TEAM  ARRIVED ON SCHEDULE AND INSTALLED THE SOLAR ARRAY OVER TWO DAYS.  ON MONDAY, WE HAD INSPECTION AND A FEW DAYS LATER THE ATTIC WAS INSULATED WITH FOAM TO REDUCE HEAT LOAD ON AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM.  EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY EXCEPT FOR INADVERTANTLY UNPLUGGING THE SYSTEM CIRCUITBREAKER DURING THE FOAMING OPERATIO.

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

In Live Oak, unexpected costs during insulation service projects often arise from discovering hidden moisture damage, the need for vapor barriers, or pest infestations. Upgrading ventilation systems or improving attic access can also add to expenses. Sometimes, electrical adjustments or meeting updated building codes are required. Setting aside a contingency budget helps manage these surprises and ensures your insulation project stays on track.

Helpful?

After insulation service projects in Live Oak, regularly check for signs of moisture or condensation in attics and crawl spaces. Rebalance your HVAC system to account for improved efficiency, and ensure all ventilation pathways remain clear. Monitor your energy usage for noticeable changes, and inspect insulation for settling or gaps. Annual professional inspections are recommended to catch moisture, pest, or storm-related issues early.

Helpful?

In Live Oak, the humid subtropical climate and frequent storms make moisture control and air sealing critical for insulation service projects. Using vapor barriers and moisture-resistant insulation helps prevent mold and mildew, especially during rainy seasons. Because hurricane winds are common, opt for insulation materials that remain effective after storms. Scheduling installation in fall or early spring can help avoid peak humidity and weather disruptions.

Helpful?

Completing insulation service projects in FL provides immediate benefits like reduced drafts, improved humidity control, and enhanced comfort during hot, muggy summers. Over time, you’ll notice lower utility bills, less wear on your HVAC system, and increased home value. Proper insulation also helps protect against moisture intrusion and storm damage, supporting healthier indoor air and greater resilience during extreme weather events.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Live Oak should prioritize attic insulation with an R-value suited for the region, such as R-38 or higher, and thorough air sealing around windows, doors, and ductwork. Address crawl spaces for moisture control and consider insulating exterior walls if the home is older. Adding weather stripping and scheduling an energy audit can help identify additional areas needing attention for optimal comfort and efficiency.
