"Ben, the electrician who installed the fan was professional and efficient. He even wore cloth booties over his shoes and placed a drop cloth on the floor while he worked. Luminous had Ben return free of charge to inspect the noise issue when I complained the fan motor was louder than I expected. I am very pleased with their install and customer service. I would use Luminous again."

"WOW! Elijah & Cody were absolutely fantastic! Clean, professional, efficient, and timely! Working with them was above and beyond all of my expectations! Had a new breaker panel installed and they switched out all of our outlets and switches! They even took extra time to correct some previous poor workmanship from when we first purchased our residence. The quality of their work and their service is absolutely first-rate! I would HIGHLY recommend them!"

"FIT Electrical was great to work with and did exemplary work. Zack was able to come out the same day as my request for bids on Angie’s List. His bid was the lowest for replacing our electric panel, the riser to the house (FPL house connect) and the meter socket. We were having a whole house generator installed and they requested, last minute, that the panel be replaced. Zack was able to get our permit and set up a date with FPL in a timely fashion. He was a great communicator, sending me confirmation of permits given, FPL appointments made, and inspection times. He communicated with me by phone as needed and was always quick to respond. The electrician on the generator install complimented the work done by Zack and Elijah, noting how neat and clean the job was. It was seamless working with Zack. His skills and craftsmanship are exceptional. I would recommend him to anyone who needs electrical work done. He proved that what he believes he delivers: Great work at a reasonable price."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Generators are safe to use as long as they are installed and operated correctly according to the manufacturer's recommendations. The most critical safety tips are to never use a portable or fuel-powered generator inside an enclosed space due to the risk of lethal carbon monoxide poisoning; always operate it outdoors where fumes can dissipate away from your home. Additionally, never attempt to connect a generator to your home’s electrical panel yourself—hire a professional to ensure the setup meets safety standards. Finally, avoid overloading the generator by not connecting more appliances than it is rated for, as this can damage your equipment or cause a fire.

If you’re wondering whether gas generators produce carbon monoxide, know that natural gas generators do not produce carbon monoxide if they are functioning properly, as natural gas burns cleanly. However, if the generator malfunctions and the gas does not burn completely, there is potential for carbon dioxide to be produced. To prevent malfunctions, it's crucial to perform regular maintenance, including running the generator weekly and scheduling professional inspections every 6 to 12 months. Also, be sure to test your carbon monoxide detectors regularly to ensure they function in the rare case of the generator producing carbon monoxide.

Portable generators provide backup power for essential appliances during outages and are easy to relocate.

Yes, natural gas generators can work without electricity. Natural gas generators are a common type of backup or whole-house generator that operates when the electrical grid isn’t working. The trick is using a transfer switch (which usually needs to be installed with the generator) that safely switches the home electrical system from the power grid to generator power when needed.

While natural gas generators are costly, they’re a great option for standby power due to the reliability of natural gas as a fuel source. Unlike other fuels, natural gas is delivered through underground pipes, making outages extremely rare and less likely to be affected by the elements. As long as the area isn’t prone to earthquakes, they offer an unlimited supply of natural gas that doesn’t degrade over time or require storage in tanks.
