"AMI is a fantastic company! They diagnosed the problem with our AC immediately and gave us several different options to choose from on how to fix our issue. We ended up having them install a brand new unit and also add a second unit and the duct work. We couldn’t be happier with the work they did. Not to mention, every single person we dealt with in the company was extremely nice and helpful. They were on top of all the paperwork for the permit, kept in touch with us and were always on time. We would recommend them 100% to anyone needing air conditioning services."

"I cant praise Weathershield enough for the service they have provided.  I
had previously paid another company to come clean my split AC.  It was emitting a moldly smell, which I assumed was becasue of mold and build up on the blower wheel and in the pan.  The first company used a strong smelling cleaner and told me it was clean.  It took 2 weeks for the smell of the cleaner to dissipate, and when it did, the old moldy smell was still there.  I took the unit half apart and could see a huge amount of build up still on the blower wheel and black mold growing on the interior of the plastic casing which covers and protects the coils and blower apparatus.
I called Weathershield and asked if they could have a technician call me back to discuss my situation.  I didnt want to pay - again-  for a service that wouldnt clean the unit properly and thoroughly.  The office had John, the head technician, call me back that very day and he described to me in detail how he would clean the unit, which was fa ar more involved process than the first company used.
I called the office back and Christina scheduled John to come and perform the cleaning the following week.  The office called the day before to confirm the appointment, and called the morning of to let me know that the technicians were on their way. John and his helper Hunter showed up right on time, placed booties over their shoes before they come into the house, and spent the next 2.5 hours carefully and thoroughly dismantling, cleaning. and reassembling the unit.   I was right there the entire time, and they took great care to explain to me what they were doing and why, without ever showing the slightest discomfort that I was there asking questions and watching the entire time.
The next day I heard a slightly unusual sound and called Christina, who scheduled John to come right back out.  He made a quick and minor adjustment and the unit is running perfectly now: smoothly, quietly, and the odor is gone.
I have lived in SoFla for 13 years, and this company gave the best service with the most professionalism that I have ever received since moving here.    Kudos to everyone at Weathershiled for their professional and technical expertise.  I will never use another AC company.

"Great experience. It took the technician very little to know what was wrong with the air conditioning. He fixed the problem and money wise very affordable. I will recommend the company to anyone. I already signed a contract to have them over for AC maintenance in 6 months."

"I'll try to remain as objective as possible by stating the facts. Readers can make their own opinion. I had not done maintenance on my AC unit in a long time. I found a deal on Angie's list for a $99 AC tune up, along with good reviews. I called the company to make an appointment and got a prompt response. A first gentleman showed up, on time, and told me that by looking at the coil I needed a deep cleaning, that was not part of the deal. He told me that it was fairly involving, would take a couple hours and that the total would be $550 for a complete AC maintenance. Ok...fine. My fault, I should have done regular maintenance. The following day, the actual AC tech came. He was in an out in about one hour. He did take the coil out and clean them. I was a bit surprised by the short time he was here so I called the office to share with them my surprise. I was told it was a bit strange and that he probably forgot to do some of the maintenance. Gentleman #1 (Mr Quote) came back, looked at my system and identified that the AC was fine but that I had a leak in the air conduit. He offered to redo the air duct seal around the air handler at no charge. The tech came the following day to perform that part. Overall everyone was courteous, on time."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, government incentives and programs are available to encourage energy-efficient upgrades in many regions. These incentives may include tax credits, rebates, grants, and low-interest loans for homeowners who invest in energy-efficient improvements such as HVAC system upgrades, insulation, and efficient windows. The availability and specific details of these incentives can vary by location, so check with your local government or utility company to explore your options.

A few drips here and there should not be cause for concern, but if your unit is leaking a large amount of water, then it’s advised that you stop using it until the problem is identified and a solution is determined. The more you use it during a leak, the more issues it will cause.

To keep your air conditioner in good working condition, you should have it serviced by a professional at least once per year, ideally in the spring before the cooling season begins. If your AC unit is 10 years or older, consider servicing it twice a year (once in the spring and once in the fall) to catch potential problems early and help it reach its full lifespan. During a service visit, a technician will inspect, clean, and replace parts as needed. Regular maintenance helps avoid costly repairs. As a DIY task, you can also clean the evaporator coils annually.

You should only run your dehumidifier in warmer months, such as spring and summer, to get the best performance out of your system. The air gets drier when temperatures drop in the winter months, creating less of a need for a dehumidifier. However, when to run a dehumidifier will depend on your local climate.

For washable or electrostatic air conditioner filters, you can soak and rinse them with water. If you rinse the filter with water, make sure to use a faucet, shower head, or garden hose with a gentle water pressure setting, as strong water pressure could damage the filter.

But for disposable filters, water could ruin the filter, even allowing mold to grow in the filter. Instead, these filters should be replaced.
