Small jobs welcome

"Terrance came and repaired some of my steel fencing for me and he did an amazing job. He completed in a timely manner and was honest and reliable. You can tell he compassionate about his job and does not do work around work. He fixes things the right way and he took the time to listen to our every need. Would definitely use his services again and would recommend him to others."

"Will of Hays Welding and Fabrication came out to replace avery large, very broken steel gate to my back yard. Will fabricated a new gate that is lighter weight, provides more privacy, and is way more attractive than the original. A rotten post buried in an exorbitant amount of concrete threw a bit of a monkey wrench into the project, but Will dealt with it in stride. Hays went above and beyond on this project and I fully recommend them to anyone in need of any kind of fabrication."

"On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give them a 20. I don't think I have seen customer service this good in a long time . The guys are absolutely wonderful very friendly professional and they even went the extra mile to come and pick the piece up for me and they're going to deliver as well. I would recommend these guys highly. I'm so glad I found you. Thank you David and Prince ð ¤"

Welding questions, answered by experts

Your typical household tools will not cut a metal pipe. To cut a metal pipe, you’d need more specialized tools like a pipe cutter or circular saw. Do not attempt to use these tools without taking proper safety precautions and wearing safety gear. It’s usually safer to let a pro cut a metal pipe, especially if you’re not confident in your skills with a heavy-duty saw.

Cutting rectangular ductwork requires careful measurements and the right technique. Use a measuring tape and pencil to mark the cutting lines accurately. Tin snips are excellent for straight cuts on smaller ducts. For more extensive or thicker rectangular ducts, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade is effective.

Ensure the duct is well-supported and secure while cutting to prevent wobbling and maintain precision. After cutting, use a metal file to smooth any sharp edges, ensuring safety during installation.

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

Welders use a variety of methods in their trade. Different types of welding are better suited for different purposes and contexts. For example, stick welding is a versatile form suitable for most metals and alloys. The most common types of welding include:

  • Stick welding: $100–$1,000

  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Gas welding: $150 and up

  • Forge welding: $15–$25 per hour

Since water heaters are primarily made of metal, they’re commonly accepted by scrap yards and collectors. Don’t expect to fetch a high price, though—water heaters are mostly steel and aluminum, which aren’t high-value metals. Some components are made of more valuable metals, like brass and copper, but they’re a small portion of the heater and won’t affect the price much.
