Small jobs welcome

"Tommy and Carmen were amazing! We had a huge Spring cleanup job, plus lots of branches left from the hurricane. The two of them cleaned up our acre, cut the grass, trimmed, blew a LOT of leaves, and took down two damaged citrus trees. They did everything with care, making sure they didn't chop anything we wanted to keep. I would highly recommend them for any job you have. I will be calling them again to clear out the riverbank for us. Thank you Tommy and Carmen!"

"Dave is capable of doing so many different jobs. We were so lucky to have someone refer him to us. All in one day he built new support & rehung a pole barn door and he even fixed an outside water issue that had given us trouble for months. He'll definitely be our go-to handyman for all home and work projects."

"Very well. Mr. Shifrin even came to our home on a weekend day to work on the washer, without charging an exorbitant fee. He did an excellent job pressure washing our metal roof. It is steeply pitched, and he worked safely, yet did a thorough job of it."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

You can build an outdoor kitchen on a deck, but you should choose composite decking since it's more heat-resistant. Metal deck materials like steel and aluminum are also good choices because they're less flammable than wood. You should also consider the weight of the kitchen—make sure your deck can support it and any appliances you plan to use. You should consult a structural engineer to confirm exactly how much weight your deck can safely support when building an outdoor kitchen.

A sunroom will add more value to your home than a deck, but with a much higher up-front cost. Depending on its construction and function, a sunroom may be counted as additional living space, while a deck is strictly an outdoor feature. Both will increase your home’s value, but the sunroom will have a much bigger effect.

Many composite decking manufacturers, including the popular Trex brand, offer warranties that protect against warping under specific conditions. These warranties typically last between 20 and 50 years, but they usually exclude claims related to improper installation of the product. Some manufacturer warranties only cover decks built by certified professionals.

While you can use various materials like sand or even just soil, gravel is widely considered the best option to put under a deck. It provides excellent drainage and is resistant to water, fire, and pests. Gravel also helps anchor the soil to prevent erosion during heavy rain and acts as a built-in weed blocker, reducing regular upkeep. Furthermore, it is simple to spread, available in various textures and tones, and adds a polished look that complements any deck design.

Finding a reputable deck builder should start with speaking with a local company and asking for samples of past work and references. You can review the company’s workmanship and speak with past customers to learn what the customer service was like throughout the process. It’s also a good idea to read online reviews and check the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website to see if the company has a history of customer complaints. If you can get a referral from a family member or friend, that’s another great option.
