"Promised removal of old ceiling fans. Only complied after being threatened with payment withdrawal. Thought they were a bit overpriced. Would not use again."

"This was my best experience with an electrical service while living at On Top Of The World. The response time was outstanding, the quote process was simple and free, and their rates were very reasonable. The technicians were knowledgeable, professional, resourceful, efficient, respectful, and tidy. While on site installing 2 ceiling fans and junction box, they even found a way to save me money compared to the original quote and to avoid drywall patching and wire molding. I’ll definitely rely on them for all my future electrical needs."

"Frank went out and bought a new light fixture based on my assumption of the problem, but the problem turned out to be in the switch! I take half the responsibility for that, but wish he (as the professional) would've diagnosed the problem himself; afterwards, I realized he didn't clean up after himself. so, the job got done and he was responsive, but all-in-all a very mediocre and disappointing experience."

"Customer service is huge for me, and I was really impressed by this company. Both of my AC units went out on the same day (when a different company was performing maintenance). I was scrambling to get quotes and get the install done. Everyone I talked to was friendly and helped me as best they could. I felt like everyone really cared. Matt did the quote and was so knowledgeable and friendly. T.J and John R. were the installers and they were considerate and kind, and ensured everything worked properly. The brand was not one I was familiar with, but I came to learn that was just in the US, and that they were huge globally. I was able to get better functionality than if I had gone with another provider's Trane units. We have now had the units for a month and they are so quiet, and are definitely cooling just fine. The one suggestion I would make to you, if you need a loaner unit, ask them to give/put in the ventilation duct. The person who delivered it may have just forgotten this. Overall, excellent experience, and I plan to use them for my future AC needs."

"We went with Total Home Roofing after receiving multiple quotes and sales pitches from various companies and we are so glad that we did. Jason Hurtarte was our sales guy & he's who really sold us. We spoke with no less than 5 other companies and Jason was straight forward, knowledgeable, and NOT PUSHY. Fast forward months later- our roof is beautiful, the crew cleaned up well, and we are looking forward to having a solid roof with this hurricane season coming."

"We discussed all the things we needed and Mel provided useful information. We had a number of things done, including installing microwave, ceiling fan, ceiling and exterior fixtures, exhaust fans and shower lights in two baths, outdoor outlet, and new updated service panel. My favorite is the new backyard power outlet. I use it all the time for various projects. Mel did outstanding work and we would not hesitate to hire him again and recommend him to others."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Keeping dust off fans can keep them working optimally and help keep dust mites or bacteria from building up. Dust fans weekly with a duster, microfiber cloth, old pillowcase, or vacuum attachment. You can also try spraying a clean fan with a store-bought dust-repellent product or making a DIY dust-repellent with water and a small amount of liquid fabric softener mixed in.

Most ceiling fans have a lifespan of anywhere from five to 15 years or 10 years on average. Just how long your ceiling fan lasts depends on the quality of the parts, how much it’s used, and how well you maintain it. A fan with a weak motor that runs on the medium setting nonstop is likely to have a shorter lifespan compared to a fan with a powerful motor that runs on the slowest setting for air circulation.

In short, no. You can use the square footage range chart in this article to determine the right size ceiling fan for both indoor and outdoor spaces. However, weather elements can damage types of ceiling fans that aren't designed for outdoor use, so your ceiling fan should be weather-resistant if you plan to install it outside.

Ceiling fans are very often worth the investment because they improve comfort in your living space and help reduce utility bills. In the late spring and early fall—and even in the summer in some areas—homeowners with ceiling fans can often get away with open windows and fans, which can cut down on cooling bills and also reduce wear and tear on the HVAC system. Over time, ceiling fans can pay for themselves by saving you money on electric bills and air conditioner repair and maintenance.

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.
