"It went great the carpets look like brand new. The person who did them was very professional and very knowledgeable of what he was doing and did a great job. He was very good at protecting my cupboards by putting a protective cover on the corners and also on the wall corners. I will have them again and highly recommend."

"We hired Richard to repair and re-stretch carpet that had been very poorly installed by a local retailer that would not correct the problem. The original installer told us that there was nothing that could be done to fix the highly visible seams and the fraying at the edges. We had low expectation going into the project but had to do something. Once he was done all the carpet in the house looks near perfect. Richard worked magic and repaired what we were told could not be fixed. Very professional and truly takes pride in his work. We will use him again on any future carpet projects."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

Most people realize it is time to replace the padding when the carpet loses springiness or feels thin and unsupportive. Other telltale signs are lumps or dips in the carpet that could look unattractive or cause tripping hazards. Similarly, if your carpet is making a crinkly sound or starting to wear out prematurely, you might need to replace your padding.

You can use a carpet patch to replace a single section of carpet. You’ll cut out the damaged section and then replace it with a caret patch. The patch should be the same color as the existing carpet. You can also hire a professional carpet repair company to get it done.

Standard padding works like a sponge. It absorbs liquid, soaking up every drop of moisture that hits it. Moisture barrier padding does the opposite because it has a waterproof coating made of plastic film, rubber, or treated foam. It doesn’t absorb spills and keeps them on the surface instead, so you can clean them up before they damage your subfloor.

The best way to fix carpet matting is to start by vacuuming thoroughly in multiple directions to lift the flattened fibers. For more stubborn spots, apply moisture with an ice cube or steam, then fluff the carpet using a spoon, comb, or carpet brush. A blow dryer or warm iron over a damp towel can also help restore the carpet’s texture. For deep or widespread matting, a professional cleaning is your best bet to fluff your carpet back up to its former glory.

Regular vacuuming, deep cleaning, and prompt stain removal help maintain appearance and durability.
