I decided to go ahead and purchase the Hurricane Impact windows for a little more so I would not be required to have screens/shutters. The thought of someone drilling holes in my gorgeous brick around my windows and having all these bolts sticking out all over the place did not appeal to me at all! Besides, where does someone store all those shutters/screens? The installer, Brian, was fantastic! He and a helper had all my windows replaced in a day and a half. I went ahead and also purchased the vinyl/metal wrap for the windows so that now they are basically maintenance free on the outside. It took an additional 1 1/2 days for the wrapping and sealing of the windows. I would highly recommend doing this also. The inspector came 3 days after completion and told me that it was the "best" installation and caulking job he had seen in his life of inspecting! I love my new windows!

They are well skilled and efficient in what they do, and once they start, they stay on task. We were experiencing some rain the morning they arrived, were informed that they may not get all 16 windows in, but once they started and the rain subsided, they stayed until 5-6 pm until they finished. They left no mess in the home, any mess was cleaned or vacuumed, and they took anything you wanted to discard from the project. A walk around to each window was done to insure we were pleased. Arrangements for the building inspector were arranged by the office. The staff and crew is very user friendly. We had the experience of having a number of doors replaced by them in the past, and the experience was the same. Well done. They also replaced an exterior insulated screened patio cover in our previous home, excellent price, the old one removed and the new one completed the same day. Very pleased again. The work was supposed to be completed no later than the end of October, and it finally completed in March (I had to move in with my parents). I'll just list what went wrong: installed broken bathroom tile (literally, cemented down and grouted broken tile), cut corners by installing brown diamond patterned linoleum in closets that butted up against tile; used hollow core, six panel, wood grain doors in an historic 1940s remodel; removed and took home the crystal door knobs from a 2200 square foot home; used the toilets as buckets to clean tools leaving dark gray gouges in the porcelain; dragged objects across surfaces such as toilet seats and a high gloss black concrete kitchen counter; left gaps in the grout of the bathroom shower surround; installed incorrect choice of tile in one bathroom; installed "close enough" choice of shower head in bathroom; refinished the floors with a sander that left deeply gouged scallops around the edges of each floor that went with the scallops of incorrectly applied stain; ruined fabric light covers by installing with dirty hands; completely neglected contract promise to provide hurricane fabric shield for windows; painted the foundation of the house a different color because they thought it would look better; failed to caulk the exterior windows; used worst quality lumber to build pergola -- split 6x6ss and 2x12s full of knots; cabinet doors fell off and are still falling off due to stripped screws; kitchen glass tile back splash applied using tacky paper -- tiles fell off and were misaligned; same tile was applied broken and took three attempts to get right; tile was cut using incorrect nippers leaving jagged glass edges; gas lines to instant hot water heater and stove failed inspection three times; was told two instant HW heaters would be installed -- arrived one day to find a tank in a closet; left screens off of half of the house's new windows; installed awnings that hung down on to the exterior coach lights; low quality gfci outlet boxes had to be replaced immediately after tripping all the time; neglected to tape and cover during mud spray; terrible interior prime and/or paint job; failed to paint second story exterior section; visible leveling crack repair; subs called me a B; ran over five months; billed for change orders that were never discussed; and they threatened to place a lien on my home in December if I didn't pay them 100% before the work was complete despite the contract clearly stating that the last 5% would be paid when permits were finalized (permits finalized in March). I had to involve a lawyer to defend myself. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. The estimator noticed that 2 other double paned windows had lost their gas, fogged over, and needed replacing. He gave us an estimate on repairing the 1 broken window and a separate estimate for replacing all three. Since the estimate for replacing all 3 was slightly less than $400.00, we opted to do that. We later scheduled the technician to come replace our windows on Monday, March 12. There was a major rainstorm and we were afarid that the appointment might need changing. We were wrong. The technician came promptly in the scheduled timeframe, completed the replacements in less than an hour and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. We were very pleased with the price and the service.) As repeat customers, we were given a very nice discount on this new job. A representative came to our house promptly and took us through all the options as to types of windows, features, etc., in a friendly and thorough manner. He did some preliminary measuring and priced everything we decided to buy. The bottom line was quite a bit less than we had feared. 50% down was required and they do accept credit cards.
Also prompt, courteous and efficient was the man who came to do the precision measurements. Two of our windows were just too small to replace, but we did hire them to replace the glass in the existing frames. That was done quickly and professionally, with no mess left behind.
With 23 other windows to replace, as well as two doors, the bulk of the job took a day and a half, give or take an hour or so. On the first day, two guys in the morning and four in the afternoon got almost all the windows done, removing the old and installing the new. The second day, a crew of four finished the windows and doors. Once again, the crews were punctual, polite, and efficient. They did a thorough job of cleaning up and replacing the window treatments that we had not removed ourselves. The old windows and all debris were removed. The new windows are so nice and clear, it's hard to tell they are closed. :-)
The only flaw occurred with the screens. We had ordered fine-meshed fabric in an effort to keep out the tiny flying insects (no-see-ums) that have been annoying us. Unfortunately, most of the screens were made the wrong size. Folkers will have that taken care of as quickly as possible, and we were advised that we do not have to pay the balance of the total cost until the correct screens are delivered and installed.
I rated the professionalism a B, although a B+ or A- would be most appropriate. The only reason is that the workers, like so many workers these days, kept a radio going all the time they were here. They did keep it outdoors, not inside, but as there was usually a door or window missing, the sound traveled indoors. I didn't enjoy what they listened to, although it was not offensive. And it was noisy enough already with the necessary power tools and other sounds related to the work. I think they would probably have turned it off if I had asked them to."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/fl/pensacola/folkers-window-co-reviews-5998239.htm"},"position":10}]}

I have been putting off replacing my 53 year old wooden windows for over 3 years as I did not want to deal with the mandatory hurricane screens/shutters. I have 26 huge windows in my house, so the cost of replacement windows plus the shutters was not something that I took lightly. The...

Small family business, along with long term employees have made this company a success to date. Everyone working for Hammerhead has know each other for 30 plus years. We are very picky about who we bring into your house.
"This remodeling took 3 months and was very extensive due to the kitchen and master bathroom were leveled down to the foundation slab. Everything was replaced in kitchen; lights, electrical sockets removed or changed, flooring, cabinets, all appliances, added trash compactors, painting, replacing baseboards, backsplash tile and mural. Master bathroom included moving a couple walls, lights, electrical sockets removed or changed, flooring, replacing baseboards and adding quarter-round, changing ceiling texture, and painting. I mention this list (which isn't comprehensive) to give you an idea of the extensive amount of work. This is important because I have a very keen eye for the quality of a contractor's work, due to my skills, and I used to be in the contracting business for a short time many years ago. My observations are to make sure all work agreed on and changes are in writing, because it will help everyone involved agree to the work required. We disagreed on a few changes, but Jimmie was professional and we came to an understanding that worked for us both. If your work is a major project like mine was then expect delays like I did. He expected 6-8 weeks and it took 11 weeks. That's not bad. We had to find another tile crew which is what delayed the project. That's not Jimmie's fault, but every contractor needs to have other people to call to pick up the slack. The quality of the work IS top quality, He is respectful and do clean up there daily trash. The painting is great if Brian does that work. Lastly, they DO show up to do repairs after the work is done, but it may take a couple requests to pin down a time. That's really good when they're backed up several months like everyone."

FAQs for window screen repair projects in Gulf Breeze, FL
Whether you should repair or replace your window screens depends on the severity of the damage and the screen’s age. For large tears or holes or multiple points of damage, replacing your screen may be more cost-effective than attempting to repair the damage. If your screens are more than 10 years old, they may continue to give you issues after repair, so it’s likely worth replacing them. We recommend hiring a local screen repair technician, as they will have tools on hand for a repair or replacement and can recommend the best course of action.
In most cases, custom window treatments are well worth the investment. Custom window treatments not only elevate your curb appeal and make your home more visually pleasing inside, but they also often do a better job of boosting your home’s energy efficiency than non-custom treatments, and they usually last longer. Plus, specialty window treatments can increase your home value if maintained well, so your investment is more worthwhile in the long run in most cases, too.
It’s possible to make minor screen repairs yourself using a waterproof adhesive for small tears or a screen patch kit for larger tears and holes. However, it’s usually a better option to call in a professional window technician. It’s very easy to use too much waterproof glue, resulting in a messy appearance that might demand a full replacement anyway. A screen repair technician will not only be able to carry out clean repairs and patches that aren’t obvious, but they can also let you know if replacing your screen is a more cost-effective option.
Window screen repair costs around $310 on average, ranging from $100 to $480, depending on material, the type of window screen, the window size, the accessibility of the window, and whether you need to replace the window screen frame. You can save money on window screen repair costs by using a more affordable material like vinyl or fiberglass, rescreening instead of replacing them, and swapping multiple screens at once to combine labor costs.
Custom window treatments cost around $900 per window, and prices usually fall between $150 and $4,800. Your total will depend on many factors, including the type of window treatment, the amount and size of the windows, your home’s location, and the labor cost. Blinds and shutters tend to be the most affordable custom window treatments at $600 to $2,700, and the most expensive options are valances, drapes, curtains, and estate shutters, costing up to $3,000.
