"Got going with ADT system earlier this Fall. It has been good. Still getting used to a much fancier and dynamic system. But it was time for an upgrade and we would suggest ADT to anyone looking to secure their home or their business."

"When dealing with the security of your home you want to be doubly sure the people who install and maintain your security system are honest, competent, fair, pleasant to get along with and reliable. AVS is a wonderful company to do business with. We bought our (spec) home in 2016 with an AVS installed alarm. There was once when I had to call them for a door sensor failure which they replaced, if I remember, at no charge. On a few other occasions something went wonky with the keypad and was fixed with simple over the phone instructions from the receptionist â again, no charge. Unfortunately, 7 years later and after the mfr. had discontinued our particular model alarm, we had a catastrophic failure of the motherboard. Chris hunted around to try and save us the expense of a new system and managed to find a similar board in their warehouse which they believed would work. Unfortunately, it couldnâ t pick up the existing sensors so that idea turned out to be a dead end. On their recommendation, we agreed a new system was the way to go but this was an upgrade. However, instead of charging us more, they agreed to do the new install for the same price with two brand new touch pads, all new RF sensors and an additional motion detector. Thank you, AVS! Robert was the salesperson who priced the job, Chris worked out all the behind-the-scenes logistics, chasing down of parts and setting up the job while Matthew, a very knowledgeable and skilled technician (no marks on the wall, no peeled paint from removing the old sensors and pads and no mess on the floor) did the install and got my wife and I set up with the control app on our phones and pads. We were up and running in very short order and just in time for our out of town trip. AVS have a great team, are fair and honest, do neat and professional work and are very pleasant to work with. Even after 7 years I canâ t recommend them enough; thank you Robert, Chris and Matthew!"

"We like their service. We haven't had any problems. They are very good. This was the first time we've had an alarm/security system in our home. The supplier is ADT. I like that I can set my alarm every night before I go to bed."

"They system was installed for the basic, but anything that you wanted needed to be higher upgraded require alot of extra money for every upgrade.
The 36.99 monthly fee was for only if your system is connected to a landline. I didnnt notice that they charge me $44.99 until my 1st month fee. Thats when I was told that they charge $44.99 because the alram was connected to my cable line instead. I was unaware of the different charges. When tec came out he didnt show up to fix the corrected. Had to call the main company for the no show. So they schedule another appointment and offered 2 window alarms to fix the correction but my bill still is $44.99. Default is that since I didnt have extra money to upgrade to the Pulse, you dont know if you turn the alarm to your house properly. I called the 800 number and they cant tell either!

"I install was professional and installer arrived on time. Sales people called to ensure that everything was satisfactory. The system is easy to use and I like the key fob and app that can be used remotely. I set the system off by mistake and the service called me right away to check on me. I had resisted getting an alarm system because I thought it an unnecessary expense but the Allstate experience has changed my mind. I recommend this company."

Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

A deadbolt differs from a regular lock in its design, construction, and security level. Regular locks are typically used for interior doors, such as for bedrooms and bathrooms, and provide minimal security. They are easy to install and use, often featuring a simple locking mechanism on the inside. In contrast, a deadbolt is one of the most secure locks you can install on an exterior door. Its internal construction is designed to withstand significant force, adding a crucial layer of security that can deter intruders. While deadbolts may be more expensive and complicated to install, they are cost-effective for the security they provide and are built to hold up to wear and tear.

Ultimately, the decision should align with your objectives. For general home security, visible cameras at entry points and high-traffic areas are recommended to deter intruders. In areas where privacy is a concern, use hidden cameras sparingly and within legal limits.

A potential weak link in any security system is poor connection strength or dropped signals, particularly in the case of a fully wireless system. You also want to ensure a reliable connection to get a hold of your service provider quickly. Also, you should exercise caution when handing out sign-in credentials to people outside the household.

The best window alarm sensor depends on the type of window you’re concerned about since different types of sensors will work best in different scenarios. Many homes are equipped with contact sensors, which trigger an alarm when a window is opened, and each part of the sensor breaks contact with the other. But there are other options, too, like a glass break sensor or motion sensor, which both work well for windows that are in low-traffic areas.

Yes, it’s possible a burglar can get through a deadbolt. Some types of deadbolts are harder for an intruder to get through, though. For example, a single-cylinder lock only requires breaking a window nearby and simply turning it. While other locks, such as a double-cylinder lock, may offer greater protection and make it harder for an intruder, no deadbolt is 100 percent effective.
