"I have a new home. Lawn was really long in some places. I did google lawn mowing companies. Angiâ s list called me with Toddâ s info, he is the owner of Southern Yard Services. I called him, felt very comfortable with call , process and service his company, Southern Yard Services, was going to provide. He came out same day, mowed, edged, etc and did a fantastic job. I give Todd and Angiâ s list a 5. Both provided fast friendly and professional service. ! I did speak with a couple additional lawn mowing companies. They either did not have competitive pricing or were not especially customer service oriented! Thanks. Cathy"

"Service was very good. I needed the service while I underwent cancer treatment. They came every week at approximately the same day and time and did a good job and trimmed the bushes as well. I certainly recommend them and may use them again when needed."

"Extremely pleased with all aspects of project. Jon is a very hardworking, experienced landscaper. He was on time and accomplished the job in an efficient manner. He would volunteer suggestions based on his years of experience when he thought they would be helpful, and they were. The project involved resodding, design of landscaping beds, tree trimming, and irrigation improvements. He was meticulous, removing all his trimmings and clippings, and never left a mess, a very professional worker. I highly recommend his work."

Weed Services questions, answered by experts

Clover lawns stand up better against dog and cat urine than traditional turfgrass. If your pets love to hang out on the lawn on a sunny day—or if you find yourself with a lot of visiting neighborhood dogs—you could save yourself from yellow and brown patches by making the switch to a clover lawn.

You should add 1 to 4 inches of mulch, depending on your garden type and needs. Keep in mind that no amount of mulch can completely prevent weeds, but a heavier coverage (closer to 4 inches) can suppress weeds enough that you are only seeing them sprout every few weeks. Finer mulch prevents weeds more effectively than large mulch, so if you’re using mulched leaves or shredded bark, 1 to 2 inches will likely suffice, while 3 to 4 inches is best for larger mulch, like bark chips or straw.

Yes, suggesting companion planting and mulching to minimize new growth.

Several tools exist that can help remove unwanted grass. The one you choose depends greatly on how much you need to remove and how hard you'd like to work. A sod or turf cutter is the fastest method while using a shovel is labor-intensive and much slower. You may also need a garden rake, tiller, and wheelbarrow.

Poison oak is similar to poison ivy in that it's in the same family of plants. Poison oak is identifiable by its rounded-off leaves and hairy leaf texture. Tree-climbing varieties live primarily in western states while low-growing poison oak bushes occupy the eastern states. Treat poison oak like poison ivy to get rid of it permanently.
