Small jobs welcome

"My house has never been properly insulated and Jeff was very kind he knows my tragic losses and was very comforting and bless me. I told him I would recommend your company to anybody in my neighborhood who has not had insulation like myself. I’ve been here close to 40 years and I will continue to honor your name for quality work and professionalism. That deserves a commercial I recoup my expenses on my commercial with you people."

"Claudio and his team did the blown insulation in my attic today and they did an AMAZING JOB; I am very happy with their work. He is very professional and answered all my questions from start to finish, he arrived at the time he said he would and cleaned up to a point that you would not even know they were here. :) I would most certainly refer them I would give 10 stars if I could. I got two other estimates, and his price was by far the best!"

"James and his guys from A&V Insulation took care of us after the Flooding from Hurricane Milton. They removed and replaced the duct work, insulation and moisture barrier in the crawl space below our home as well as thoroughly treating for mold until they were sure it was all gone. They did all this in a very professional and timely manner and at and extremely fair price. I urge anyone looking for an insulation company to use A&V Insulation, you will not be disappointed. I will be recommending them to all of my family and friends. Thank You A &V Insulation."

"The contractors were professional and courteous. They added a substantial amount of blown in insulation for after 20 years the original insulation had "flattened" and our air conditioner was coming on way to often. In the few days following the install we immediately noticed the air conditioning wasn't coming on as often as the house is now holding the cooled air longer. If you have old insulation and want to reduce your energy consumption I highly recommend Fix My Attic to address your concerns."

"All connections and transactions with the company exceeded expectations. Reception/scheduling was outstanding - right down to notifications via both email and text that the estimator for the job would be 20 minutes late to the appointment as a problem occurred with a client. The 3 agents of the company that I met in person - the estimator, then 2 installers 2 days later, were professional, competent and courteous. Yes, you read that right. From estimate to full installation of the new insulation the project was done in less than 48 hours. This is a exceptionally well run small business. Highly recommended."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Cracks, water damage, and holes from fixtures or impact.

Ceiling-mounted curtains won’t damage the ceiling if they’re installed properly. Using the right anchors or securing the brackets into joists will ensure the curtain weight is properly supported and prevent damage. However, overtightening screws, using weak anchors, or repeatedly removing and reinstalling hardware in the same spot can cause cracking or sagging over time. In that case, you might have to call a pro for ceiling repair.

Yes, small, superficial cracks are normal as homes settle. Older homes have a higher chance of showing signs of settling through hairline cracks from temperature changes, moisture changes, and soil shifting. However, larger cracks, or discolored cracks from water damage, may signify a bigger problem that requires reparations and preventative measures.

Yes, you can apply new plaster over an existing plaster surface, such as a wall or ceiling, provided the old plaster is in good condition. Before you begin, check the stability of the existing plaster. The surface must be clean, free of loose material, and have no peeling paint. It is also recommended to roughen the surface slightly to promote adhesion. For older plaster, applying a base coat like a PVA emulsion or a specific bonding agent or primer is crucial. This step makes the existing plaster less porous and ensures the new and old layers adhere properly for a smooth, long-lasting finish.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.
