Customers say: True professional

"Absolutely transformed my property in three days! It is amazing what can be accomplished by a skilled professional who knows the landscape and his equipment. Primarily underbrush clearing of invasive bushes and uncared for land (1.7 acres). I bought the property 7 months ago and thought it would be years for what Mark did in three days. *Based on other estimates who told me they'd need a full crew to do the same work which priced the project out of reach. Quality, terms, results. I will be hiring Grady's Services for future projects and recommend him to anyone."

Customers say: Quality work

"Pelican Rock Company was on point from start to finish. Cirino is a true professional and he and his team did an amazing job. The entire process was honestly flawless, and we are thrilled with the outcome! The team even went out of their way to do a repair caused by a large tree root under the existing pavers done when we installed our pool years earlier. We couldnâ t be happier, and we highly recommend this company. You wonâ t be disappointed."

Customers say: Quality work

"Grading work was done very well and professionally. I think I'm in a better position when the next floods come along! The workers were very friendly and made good suggestions. Tony and his older brother Eduardo were especially gracious. There was a big delay getting sod to finish the job, but that was mainly due to their sod suppliers not being able to cut sod in soggy, rainy weather. Now all sod work is complete and I am satisfied. In fact, they are returning soon to cut some trees. You can't go wrong with Eduardo Rodriquez Lawn Service!"

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

When considering the price of drilling a well, factor in how much you’ll save in water costs per year. The average family of four uses 100 gallons of water per person per day in the U.S. With a private water well, you can save hundreds each year.

Wells are also environmentally friendly. You don’t need to worry about drinking water treated with chemicals. Talk to at least three well pump contractors in your area. They’ll be able to tell you more about your options, give you different quotes, and discuss the biggest concerns.

Professional well contractors may use electromagnetic mapping to look for places with a high likelihood of water. Water access can vary significantly, even on the same property, so it can be difficult to know where to drill if you don’t have specialized tools to look for water.

When planning for land survey costs, you should consider the following elements as major contributors to the overall cost:

  • Size of your property in terms of acres or square feet

  • Complexity of the terrain in terms of hills, elevation changes, rocks, water, and other features

  • Type of survey you need (boundary survey, topographic survey, or a combination of survey types)

  • Distance traveled for the professional surveyor

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.
