"Very very pleased. Had to have the exterior of fiberglass front door stripped and gel stained and they were very meticulous. Took extra time to complete on account of it being too humid and they didn’t want it to ruin the stain. Would definitely hire again."

"Our little project was completed in record time. The First Class crew did an outstanding job and we could not be more pleased with the result. Jordan, the owner, also provided good advice on color. The original color we chose was too dark so we chose a lighter shade and it looks great!"

"Dow painted my kitchen cabinets white. They are gloss and that isnâ t easy to do well. Dow did an outstanding job! We have built a house and are remodeling one now. I can tell you the hardest part is finding competent contractors. Dow Walker is the dream contractor. He answers calls, he comes when he says he will, he does the job in the time frame he said he would , he does it for the price he quotes you, and he does superb work. In addition, he is a polite , well spoken, friendly, all around nice young man. I will be calling Dow for painting and general repairs in the future. I HIGHLY recommend him."

"The Pressure Washing, Exterior Repairs and Painting of my home and screened porch performed JP's Paint Co. LLC Far Exceeded My Highest Expectations!! Their communication with me was excellent. Lindsay & Julian arrived right on time and walked my property, taking notes, photos and discussing all of their recommendations necessary to bring about the best results based on my description of what I needed. JP's Paint Co. LLC clearly operates with a high standard of integrity that is not often seen these days. I knew they were the company to hire & once the crew arrived, right on time, they were all polite, careful with everything they did and so detailed and meticulous with their workmanship! I was so impressed and pleased with the outcome! The crew was the Best! The entire job was able to be completed in one day and my yard was totally clear of any trash once they were packed and ready to go! I absolutely recommend JP's Paint Co. LLC!! Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.

Generally, these steps are included in exterior house painting:

  • Prepping and protecting the areas not being painted

  • Scraping away loose paint

  • Cleaning off dirt, grease, and debris

  • Caulking gaps and openings

  • Priming with a quality paint primer

  • Painting the prepared areas, including trim and accents with chosen paint finish

  • Adding a second coat

  • Cleaning up the site and disposing of tape, plastic, and drop cloths

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.

Waterproof paint creates a barrier to hold back moisture, but it doesn’t eliminate the source of the water. If you hire a basement waterproofing contractor, many will tell you that waterproof paint is only a temporary solution. On average, you can expect it to last from six months to two years in a wet basement before deteriorating.

Beyond liquid rubber, homeowners can use sealants, stains, membranes, or tapes as waterproofing options. Oil-based or water-based sealants soak into the wood, creating a moisture-resistant barrier. Waterproofing stains—available in transparent, semi-transparent, and solid colors—add both protection and style to your deck. For heavy-duty waterproofing, deck membranes and waterproof tapes can be applied under the deck boards to direct water away from the structure below. Whatever method you choose, clean and prep the deck first to ensure the best, longest-lasting results.
