"Steve and his crew were amazing. They rebuilt our dock and roof better than anyone else. We had our dock rebuilt 7 yrs ago the company did not put the piling into the ground and they rotted away so the roof and platform were not supported. Our walkway was unlevel and multiple posts needed to be replaced. Steve and his team plus Cole rebuilt everything perfectly. His price was so reasonable. He showed up on time and not only did what he said he would do. He and his team went above and beyond. I can?t recommend him more highly. If you are looking for perfection and honesty he is your man. Thank you Steve and DockMD."

Small jobs welcome

Offers commercial services

My name is Blake Demunck, Im proud father of 3, and I started BOA Painting & Home Improvement a little over a year and a half ago (at the time of writing this). Many of my family members own construction businesses specializing in different fields, so, I have worked in home improvement since I can remember! I take pride in my work and don't consider a job finished until I can look at it and say it’s perfect (and the customer does as well). Integrity, quality, and reliability are all virtues of mine that I display in my personal life that I bring to my business life as well. If you like what you read, I would love if you pick me and my business to finish your home improvement projects!

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

A five-gallon bucket of deck stain will cover roughly 875 square feet in a single coat. Actual coverage will vary based on the type of wood you’re staining and the number of coats. If you plan on doing multiple coats, multiply the square footage by the number of coats to calculate how many buckets of stain you’ll need.

Hiring a contractor or professional deck refinisher is the best way to ensure your deck is properly stained. They have the expertise, tools, and supplies to do the job quickly and efficiently. However, staining a deck is a manageable task for most homeowners, and doing the job yourself can save money. Just keep in mind that DIY staining is a long process requiring physical strain, so it may not be the best option for everyone.

Many decking oils can help slow down algae growth, but they don't completely stop it. These oils work by sealing the wood, which reduces moisture and, therefore, algae growth. Some decking oils also help protect against UV damage, but they need to be reapplied according to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure the decking stays protected.

If your biggest concern is making sure your deck doesn’t show dirt, opt for a darker neutral color that blends in well with your surrounding landscape. A rich brown or dark grey are both good options that work with a variety of house colors. A high-quality acrylic paint is easy to clean and maintain, so it might be worth spending the money on.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.
