"Steve and his crew were amazing. They rebuilt our dock and roof better than anyone else. We had our dock rebuilt 7 yrs ago the company did not put the piling into the ground and they rotted away so the roof and platform were not supported. Our walkway was unlevel and multiple posts needed to be replaced. Steve and his team plus Cole rebuilt everything perfectly. His price was so reasonable. He showed up on time and not only did what he said he would do. He and his team went above and beyond. I can?t recommend him more highly. If you are looking for perfection and honesty he is your man. Thank you Steve and DockMD."

Small jobs welcome

Offers commercial services

My name is Blake Demunck, Im proud father of 3, and I started BOA Painting & Home Improvement a little over a year and a half ago (at the time of writing this). Many of my family members own construction businesses specializing in different fields, so, I have worked in home improvement since I can remember! I take pride in my work and don't consider a job finished until I can look at it and say it’s perfect (and the customer does as well). Integrity, quality, and reliability are all virtues of mine that I display in my personal life that I bring to my business life as well. If you like what you read, I would love if you pick me and my business to finish your home improvement projects!

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally a very good idea to seal your deck after pressure washing. Power washing removes not only dirt and debris but also a thin layer of wood, leaving the surface exposed and more susceptible to weathering. Sealing is almost always needed after this process. After a general cleaning, sealing isn't automatically necessary if the existing sealant is still intact. You can test the surface by placing a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the sealant is working. If it soaks into the wood, it's time to apply a new sealant. If it has been a few years, it's wise to remove the old sealant, wash the deck, and reseal for maximum protection.

If you have wood decking, there are several common deck problems that you might encounter. For example, your natural wood boards may fade over time due to things like sunlight, weather, and debris. On top of that, some types of wood decking can rot, grow mold, and attract destructive pests—including termites, carpenter ants, and woodpeckers.

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat.

Costs depend on coating type, labor, site preparation, and required finishes.
