"If there were six stars to choose from, that would be the rating I would give for the service provided. They were efficient, on time, and had a very professional and friendly personality, doing an amazing job repairing my ceiling. I will be using them for future handyman projects!"

"Remodeling our kitchen was an interesting experience and we were very happy with the result. Since first day Jess was very helpful and transparent with the information we needed and was always available for any question we might had. He and his team did everything to make the experience as smooth and efficient as possible. It only took 2 weeks to complete the remodeling and they were very professional and always on time with the schedule."

"Very difficult to schedule. Took about 2 weeks from initial purchase here on Angie's list for him to contact me, then another two weeks to schedule a time. Job was to install a light switch for an existing light on an interior wall. He had difficulty cutting the hole in the wall, and in finding the correct wire in the attic. He'd had some trouble with his truck so he arrived without parts and few tools. I had to loan him tools to do the job, then he had to go to Home Depot to buy parts, and one of the parts was wrong, so I had to go to home depot to get the right part. It took him 2 hours or more to do the job. It was well done when finished, and it was fairly priced, $99 for two hours work, an Angie's List deal. He's a very personable guy, and was nice to talk to, but definitely seemed more like a casual handyman than a professional electrician."

"

Florida Lifetime was terrific. They are extremely knowledgeable, professional and punctual. Anything we wanted to know about windows they knew. They did a beautiful job. The windows are well installed and because of this the temperature in our home is constant now. The county building inspector came by and was actually impressed with the work done, that we gave him the company's number. I would absolutely use them again.

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

When considering finishing your basement, take into account a few pros and cons:

Pros

  • Can increase the value of your home

  • Separate space from the rest of the house

  • Customize and personalize the basement to suit your needs and style

  • Increase the amount of living space in your home

Cons

  • May not regain enough value to cover the cost of finishing

  • Lack of natural light if it’s below ground level

  • Moisture or flooding can cause costly damage

  • Installing plumbing and electrical can be messy and costly

If you have the woodworking experience to build a bar from scratch and you have the time, DIYing the work is a no-brainer and can save a few thousand dollars. However, if you’re looking to include a sink, additional lighting fixtures, or high-end bar tops and cabinets, it’s usually a better idea to call in a pro. It will cost more, but the finished product will likely be worth it.

It is generally more affordable to finish a basement than an attic, though it ultimately depends on how you plan to use the space. The average cost to finish a basement ranges from $7 to $23 per square foot, while attic renovation costs $30 to $60 per square foot. However, a simple attic conversion to a storage space will cost significantly less.

Yes, you can install a summer kitchen or kitchenette in your basement. They serve similar purposes as outdoor kitchens, keeping the main floor of the house cool and providing another space to cook and congregate. Basement kitchens are also a worthwhile alternative for homeowners without much space in the backyard. They come with a few logistical questions to sort out, though, like ventilation and waterproofing.

You should plan on waiting at least a year and ideally two to three years after construction before finishing your basement. This will give the foundation time to settle in response to the weight of your home and the expansion of the surrounding soil. You can then repair your foundation and seal any cracks as needed before finishing it to reduce your risk of future leaks or other issues.
