"He called me back promptly after I left a phone message. We agreed on an appointment window for the next day. He arrived within the time window given and the job went quicker than I thought it would. His price was very reasonable and I will definitely call him again when I need a locksmith. My overall experience couldn't have gone better. Highly recommended!"

"I contacted Rapid Locksmith Pros to rekey the doors to a store we just rented out because the old tenants didn?t leave out the old keys. We were under the impression we would have to switch out the locks but was happy they were able to make us new keys keeping the same locks on the doors. Great service 5/5"

"Here is a polished version of your review: ?Mikalali did an outstanding job repairing my broken pocket door. He even went above and beyond by going to Lowe?s to pick up a part I was missing. After completing the repair, he cleaned up so thoroughly it was like he was never here. I would highly recommend him for any job you need done. Thank you, sir, for a job well done!?"

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

You can cut a door knob off using a sawzall, but you risk causing additional damage to the door itself. You’ll also need to completely replace the door knob, costing you extra money and another trip to the hardware store.

If you’re having an issue turning the key inside a lock, chances are there is dust or dirt buildup within the cylinder. The easiest solution is applying a dry lubricant to the lock, which loosens the dirt buildup. You may need to turn the key a few times for it to work properly again.

The good news is that, yes, you can change locks yourself. Many people find it’s an easy DIY project that requires few tools and not much expense (depending on which lock you’re installing). If you have trouble with any part of an installation, you can always call a locksmith to help finish installing them.

If your key breaks in a lock, first remain calm and avoid forcing the broken piece further in. You may be able to remove it yourself if a portion of the key is still protruding from the lock. To aid removal, lubricate the keyhole with a graphite-based spray. Then, try using tools like pliers, tweezers, a bobby pin, or even a jigsaw blade to gently grasp and pull the broken piece out. If these methods don't work, you can't reach the key, or you're concerned about damaging the lock, it's best to call a professional locksmith for assistance.

Standard residential deadbolt locks come with a steel bolt that locks your door into place using a key (or keypad) on one side and a thumb turn on the other. When you lock it, the bolt slides into a strike plate on your door jamb to secure your door shut.
