"Excellent service, very friendly. Got the estimates from several roofers. John Keller Roofing was very close to the others except one that was about 70% higher. I chose John Keller Roofing in the end because I had used them a few years before to do a repair on my roof. Same great service and workmanship then as now. The crew did the entire job in one day. There were seven men on my roof and they all worked very efficiently. I chose a light colored energy star rated architectural shingle to help reduce the heat load in the attic space which should help reduce my electric bill going forward. John Keller also did a wind mitigation inspection which I'm told should help reduce the price of my homeowners insurance. He gave me photos of the roof as the work was done to show the nailing patterns for code compliance and for the wind mitigation inspection.

"Having used Keefe Roofing about 2 years ago on the place we just sold, it was a no brainer that we wanted them putting on the new roof. The crews do excellent work. They protect the foliage around the house so it doesn’t get damaged by shingles that might come off the roof. And they clean up daily. They get all the nails with a strong magnet. They even go over the grass with the magnet. It was nice to see the entire crew looking through the rocks for nails & debris on the last day. They really do get extra points for their clean up. It turned out that when the old roof was stripped off, I had a lot of plywood that was rotten (14 sheets at last count) and some of the 2x4s were bad as well. The crew cut them out and replaced them giving me a sound base before beginning the actual reroofing."

"Westscott Roofing replaced our old roof with a new roof, also did some patch work for our pool deck covering. John and his crew did a great job in a timely fashion, price was right and I have already referred him to two or three other friends of mine who reported to me his company did great job on their roofs also."

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Smooth galvanized metal ducting is best and safest for venting a hood range. It’s best to avoid flexible and corrugated types of ducting, as these options don’t provide ample airflow and may not meet local code. For specific advice on which type of duct might be best for your kitchen, reach out to a range hood installation professional.

Yes, professionals can often retrofit models with minimal disruption.

A higher CFM will make the price of your range hood more expensive. It can be challenging to speculate how much the CFM rating affects price, but ductless range hoods—that don’t need as high of a CFM as ducted range hoods—are less expensive than their alternative. On average, ductless hoods cost between $100 and $300, while ducted hoods can cost as much as $1,000.

If a range hood has minor issues, the average repair costs $85 to $210. This accounts for both parts and labor. More extensive damage can cost as much as $300 to $500, at which point it may be worth considering completely replacing the range hood.

No, range hoods do not necessarily have to be vented outside. Ductless or non-vented range hoods are available, which are common in condos or small kitchens where connecting to external ductwork isn't feasible. These hoods operate by taking in air, filtering it through charcoal filters to help eliminate smoke and odors, and then recirculating the cleaned air back into the kitchen. However, while these recirculating hoods are more versatile, venting to the outside is still the preferred and more effective method for completely removing smoke, odors, and gases from the room.
