"Water pump on well went out on a Sat morning. He and his assistant arrived when they said. Ed got pump fixed within what my budget allowed and promptly left. I was able to get to a funeral I was scheduled to help at Church. He explained how things worked and what he replaced."

"Very professional and punctual. They were the first to respond to my inquiry over the Thanksgiving Day holiday and scheduled me 2 days later to come out and inspect my well pump. It was short cycling. Hunter was very patient and took the time to answer all my questions and describe the issue to me. He quickly replaced the bladder and even closed off a hose pipe that was leaking at no additional charge. I plan to use them again for any well repairs or services and highly recommend them to others."

Wells and Pumps questions, answered by experts

If you’re going away on vacation or leaving your home for a long time, it’s a good idea to switch off your well pump and pressure tank before you go. This way you can prevent any damage from unexpected leaks that may occur or unforeseen electrical issues while you’re away.

Both can deliver clean water to your taps, but well water and city water carry a few differences. City water is delivered and connected through a main water line, and it travels through a network of underground private and public pipes to service various buildings and structures once it’s been treated.

Well water is derived from dug or drilled wells that source groundwater from the water table. City water is often more expensive than well water, but it eliminates the need for you to test and treat your own well water.

Another common question is, what pressure should your well tank be set at? The standard rule of thumb is to set your well tank’s pressure at 2 psi below the cut-on point of your pressure switch. So if your well is set up for a high cycle of 40/60 psi, your pressure should be set to 38 psi. If you use a low setting of 30/50 psi, you would set the pressure to 28 psi.

A leaking well pipe is quite different from if the well itself is leaking. To seal a leaking well, pour a cement mixture or bentonite into the space between the well casing and the borehole wall. The heavier cement collects at the bottom to form a solid seal, pushing lighter materials like mud and fluids up toward the surface. Professional well installation companies have the equipment to do this properly.

A well pressure tank is located between the well and the well pump, and it stores your water under pressure so that the well pump can eventually do its job. The well pump is activated whenever you turn a faucet on—it pulls the water from the tank into your home. Both are vital parts of a complete well water system.
