"They were excellent in their presentation, were on time and prepared. We did not go with them because the cost was outside my budget. I would definitely recommend them. The salesman did everything he could to get it within my budget, but we just couldn’t do it."

We had approximately seven diseased trees needing to be removed from our property, a job we attempted to handle ourselves before becoming overwhelmed with the task at hand.  We contacted Street's Tree Service, and within a couple hours of speaking with the owner, Leon Street, he was able to come out the same day and give us an estimate.  He and his crew returned the following morning to begin the job and within 2.5 hours had the job complete.  In addition to the tree removal, several piles of branches, limbs, tree trunks and yard waste were removed as well.  Leon and his crew worked through a driving rain storm to get the job done.  They were well-organized, efficient, professional, and polite.  They arrived ready to work.  Leon made sure we were satisfied with the job performed and that everything was picked up and cleaned up before receiving payment. We will definitely use Street's Tree Service in the future.

"Affordable tree service did an outstanding job trimming several trees in our yard last week. Their estimate was very fair, they arrived early (unheard of!), and cleaned-up thoroughly afterward. While they were there I asked them to do a number of additional limbs, which they did at reasonable additional cost. Very professional and I would hire them again in a heartbeat."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, you’ll want to avoid flush cuts, which are cuts made as extremely close to the trunk or main branch. These cuts can weaken your tree, lower its natural defense mechanisms, and even cause decay. You’ll also want to avoid tree topping, which is the total removal of the leader and upper main branches of a tree.

Most pros will advise against either of these methods, which is why hiring a pro is often the best choice when it comes to tree trimming.

Tree removal costs typically don’t include stump removal, as that technically falls into a different service. The company you hire may offer the service for an additional fee; ask them if they offer it to ensure you get the best tree stump removal costs possible.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.

It may not be worth it to rake every leaf in your yard, but it’s necessary to remove the majority of leaves to prevent them from smothering grass growth on your lawn. However, raking leaves isn’t your only option for leaf removal. You can remove leaves easily with a leaf blower or compost or mulch them with your lawn mower to repurpose them to help grow your garden or yard.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.
