"Gulf Pool Services repaired a leak in my above ground pool. It was not a large project, but the repair was done well and the person who did the repair was knowledgeable and very down to earth."

"Fantastic team! From scheduling the service estimate to actually having both Trevor and David take a look at our pool, they have been excellent. We have a pool that needed service and maintenance and ended up having a back flow issue with our pump and they were able to handle everything. Kept me informed from start to finish. Timely, professional, informative and very easy to work with. I would highly recommend them to anyone."

"We needed to find a reliable pool service company since we do not live in the home full time and our previous company did not perform the service as promised. I found Chris Shonk through Home Advisor/Angi and have been very pleased with his service. When the service is completed, he sends a full report along with a picture of the pool after the cleaning. We recently visited the home and found that the pool was clean and there were no issues as with our last pool service company. I highly recommend Florida Outdoor Services."

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

Hot tub repairs cost between $200 and $500 on average. You can minimize those costs by maintaining your hot tub and keeping necessary supplies on hand. An elevated shelf in the garage is a great place to store your water care chemicals so that kids and pets will stay safe and you’ll always have them around.

Your hot tub should be drained of existing water, cleaned, and refilled every three to four months at a minimum. Follow your tub manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning, and rinse thoroughly when finished to eliminate any residue from the cleaning products. This is also a good time to inspect your tub’s cover in good lighting for any leaks, tears, or other damage that might cause problems.

Using your hot tub manufacturer’s suggested cleaners and methods, keep your hot tub filters clean to avoid a loss of water heat. This will help extend the filter’s useful life and efficiency. If the filter is more than two to three years old, replace it with a new one and buy a second filter to keep around as a spare.

Yes, you can use silicone or epoxy hot tub repair kits to repair cracks in a hot tub. Always read the manual to see what the manufacturer recommends before attempting to repair a hot tub.

How often you change the water in your swim spa depends on how often you use it. Most manufacturers recommend changing the water every three to six months. If you use your swim spa throughout the seasons, it’s a good idea to set up a quarterly deep cleaning schedule. The ideal instructions should be in the owner’s manual.

Yes. If you test the water and the alkalinity is too low, you can raise it by adding an alkalinity increaser, which likely came with your hot tub’s chemical kit. In a pinch, you can use baking soda to raise the hot tub’s alkalinity. Raising the alkalinity will prevent the hot tub water from becoming too acidic.

Hot tub heaters typically last seven to 10 years, though some might only last five years if not properly maintained. You can maximize your hot tub heater’s lifespan by ensuring the water’s pH level is properly balanced.
